The guy at the beginning of the music video is Simon Jakops. He is the person who formed and personally trained XG for about 7 years. The training process that he gave them include learning how to sing, to dance, to rap, and to perform live. They started out as a group of 30 female trainees. Through the process of examinations, whoever didn’t meet his expectations gets send home. They started training around the age of 12 to 15. His training process is as difficult as training to be an Olympic athlete. Check out XG Woke Up Choreography video to see their dance choreography for this song. Also, no disrespect to Sexy Red, but I will be honest. Woke Up was released a few days before her new song U My Everything with Drake. You can clearly hear the difference in quality. I just to want to say that Sexy Red wouldn’t last a day doing the same training they did. I hate her new song U My Everything featuring Drake. I hate her crack voice that sounds like a dying goat.

New subscriber here. I've been an XG fan for a month now. These 7 ladies are tough. 4 rappers, 3 vocalists, but they can all sing and rap. THEY ARE ALL DANCERS. R&B and rap, inspired by the Old School. You are about to go down the most fantastic rabbit hole ever. They all trained from 2017 to 2022, in a competition with 14 other girls to become XG. They gave blood, sweat and tears at such a young age. They only range from 18 to 22 now. 5 ladies are Japanese, one is half Japanese and half Australian. One is half Japanese and half Korean. They all speak 3 languages. THEY ARE BEAST. JURIN, MAYA, HARVEY (AMY), COCONA are the 4 rappers. CHISA, HINATA, JURIA are the 3 vocalists. They are worth your time fellas. Hi guys, glad you reacted to our girls. You can open the subtitles if it is hard to understand what they are saying, English is their 3rd language. Let me provide a little bit of info for you. This is a 7-member Japanese global girl group ( 4 rappers and 3 vocalists but they all can do it all ). They operate in both Korea and Japan but they are not a K-pop group, they almost always sing in English. They can speak Japanese, Korean and English and English is their 3rd language. They mostly do Rap and R&B stuff but they are really versatile, you will see all kinds of songs from them. These girls have bars. COWBOY REACTS has a 35-minute breakdown video on this song and has another 1-hour video of him breaking down GALZ XYPHER which is the rap song XG blew up :D Other reactors have breakdowns of their other rap songs, especially the TAPE's which they use the beats of "known" songs and sing their own lyrics. They pay homage to OG's and show respect all the time. They have tons of references etc. They are basically a shape-shifting alien wolf pack from another galaxy and they have a lore. The eye thing was always prominent in XG music videos. You can see them keep changing and evolving etc. If you watch all their music videos in order you'll see the through line. "Tippy Toes" shows a little bit of their wolf shape & powers. "Mascara" shows a bit of their body adaptability. "Shooting Star" tells the story of them wanting to shoot off into the Stars to achieve their dreams "Left Right" shows them travelling across the galaxies. "HESONOO&X-GENE" is them awakening from hibernation before reaching Earth. "GRL GVNG" is XG's arrival on Earth. "TGIF" is their evolution commencing on the planet. "New Dance" is them exploring their new environments ETC. ETC. WOKE UP is kinda like them taking over or getting ready to take over. Their different songs/MV's represent different ERA's of their arrival to Earth ( not Earth per se but planets in general I assume ) and taking over. You can check the zoomed-in eye shots in these MV's and see the differences. They used those eye thingies in other songs like Shooting Star as well. I am not 100% sure what eye represents but my interpretation is that it shows their evolution or it basically shows they are aliens in a cool and visually pleasing way. I am sure they have a more detailed lore but we as the fans don't know much details yet. They also have tons of references and easter eggs in the videos. For example, in the first Maya verse, it is like a court scene and Maya says "I'm the judge and jury" and she is addressing the "haters". There are people around in wolf-heads who are the witnesses ( which are the fans - their fandom name is Alphaz, WE are the witnesses ) and a guy is being judged with the upper half of his head missing. He represents the haters so they are no-brain, only talk. Also, you can see there is a building at the start and at the end and, a guy approaches it. He is the CEO of XG's label. Basically, he is XG's boss, but in the video, he is their commander. So while Maya taking the haters to the court, the other girls are coming in from the multiverse to attack the haters' """"head-quarters"""". You can see in the end it is in the shape of a head. It also blows up, so it means they take down the haters but it can also mean, after you finish watching the video, your minds are blown. EXTRA : Cocona shaving her head can be interpreted in multiple ways. Saying F U to the beauty standards of the industry? Also, XG got some shade because of their outfits, hair styles, lyrics etc. ( Coco had braids for a lil while, so basically saying here, I cut all off, what now ? ) saying that they appropriate black culture ( they actually don't, they love the culture and they pay homage all the time. They don't pretend, they grew up with those songs, and their inspirations are the biggest old-school R&B, hip-hop, and rap artists mostly from the USA, they sing their songs, they use their beats, they shoutout and everything ) also, it appears she already did that when she was younger and wanted to do it again. The label didn't want her to until now since it fits the concept and MV so she did it in this MV. That can mean a lot of things but it's a bold move either way and it is fun, it is swaggy and it suits her personality. She is one of the swaggiest , coolest people I have ever seen. She is so badass.

XG is a japanese girlgroup. All their songs are in English. They consider themselves as XPOP cause they aim to be a global group and have a unique type of song, so some types of kpop stereotypes they don't follow. The group has 7 members, which includes 4 rappers (Jurin, Harvey, Maya and Cocona) and 3 singers (Chisa, Hinata and Juria). But don't play with them, all 7 can sing, "Winter Without You" is the proof of that, as "Woke Up" is the proof that all 7 can rap as well. They also have a rap line, a vocal line, and now majority of them are all rounders which means they can sing and rap. They have the vox which is all vocals, the tapes are all rap, they have moves which is all dance practices and choreography. They do have alot if short videos but they fire as well. I luv this group. Their 1st debut was tippy toes. They came out 2yrs ago. All I'm gone say is you won't be disappointed and they don't ever miss.

it's cool that you guys mentioned that u are going to check out more kpop now but u aint gonna find much on a similar level as this one. no one in the kpop scene is doing it like XG in the hip hop department at this moment as far as i am concerned. so jumping straight into kpop looking for something like this might actually disappoint you. if you want more of this i'd say just go down that rabbit hole and check out all their XG mix tapes and xyphers. u will be delighted
