@@mendellang8379 I meant birk. I respectfully have to disagree to this one. I mean last comp I think the rules were ambiguous to not give two separate scores for dub 19 and trip 19. I think the dub 19 this year didn’t receive high score cause he fell after the landing. And the quad wasn’t really a quad

A Hall is a g for trying to incorporate the un-spin into big air comps. Guess the judges weren’t ready for it yet this year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@midi510 Жыл бұрын
Style has to support technical difficulty. You could see it the other way around, but you need both.
@joemarais7683 Жыл бұрын
@@midi510it’s pretty debatable that the spin to win tricks have no style, so at least to the judges they really don’t need both. Despite X Games being all about “expression” their scoring has always been about checking boxes and never about “style.”
@midi510 Жыл бұрын
@@joemarais7683 A really basic way to score would be to give a score (like 1 - 10) for difficulty and one for style, then multiply them. Say you get an 8 for style and a 9 for difficulty. Total would be 72. To avoid a lot of ties, you could allow tenths, like a 7.6 or whatever. If I consider a gnarly line or cliff drop, I factor the likelihood of something going wrong with the severity of the consequences. I don't give it a number, but the concept is there. High probability of something going wrong in conjunction with severe consequences, factor the necessity for a high reward. (This example is for the factoring process only.) If I can imagine it all going well and I know I have the ability to pull it off, I'll go for it. If I can't see it happening in my mind, I won't do it. I used to compete and have judged the IFSA NA circuit many years ago and don't envy judges in the least.
@adurwenzli Жыл бұрын
Mad respect to Alex for this, I totally agree. But I also had the feeling that Alex didn't manage to perform what he actually wanted to show. I imagine butter-frontflips after landing from the knuckle, Alex definitely has that down. Unfortunately it seemed as if he didn't find the sweet spot in the speed for the approach. That's why I don't think the judges' decision was that wrong.
@poostain7294 Жыл бұрын
Gotta love Alex for going stylish rather than spin to win. I mean a variation of both pretty big spins and mega style (henny or elias syrjä) is what i love and i hope to see them again here. Those 2160 were sick and clean but next year if that same trick is gonna win and someone is throwing some insane stylish smaller rotations im gonna be pissed.

When I 1st watched the X games, it was the 900 that was the crazy trick. Now, these athletes are doing 2160s. 😱🤯 Is there any room left to spin more than a 2160 and still land it? They are nearly landing at the very bottom.
