Thank you for your comprehensive review. I must say, based on the audio quality that I can discern from this video, it sounds quite impressive. As luck would have it, I do not possess any radios that possess the same tuning capabilities as this one, so I am seriously considering acquiring one for myself. As an individual who is accustomed to Tecsun's recent receivers and SDRs, I believe that this particular radio will provide me with an excellent opportunity to craft a meticulously detailed review.

To remember the position of the mp3 track, you need to switch the M button to the BT mode and turn it off or select the radio mode.

I have two of these now (thanks todd!) and they’re way nicer than the 109 for FM and BT (and mono is fine for audiobooks and podcasts plus the iphone has a mono audio in accessibility for music). The SW has a ton of digital beeping self-interference that the D-109 (I have 5 of those?), which is pretty much the same tuner, doesn’t have. Even with a good external antenna, it just doesn’t pull in stuff the 109 can get indoors with the whip (USA transmitters). I guess some of the MP3/BT board stays powered up when the radio is on.

My mistake was not waiting for todderbert's review before purchasing. Just too many irritating quirks with this radio. Plenty of others in this price range perform just as well without the weird limitations. Thanks for another very thorough review! You are indeed the master.

I purchased this radio about a month ago so I could have a radio/BT speaker with me in my daily EDC bag. Originally tried the Supersonic for that purpose, but apparently they have changed that radio and the one I received was different than the version reviewed by Todderbert and seemed very cheap/chintzy. I am happy with it and have my Skywave for when I want to do serious listening, but this is perfect for my occasional uses out and about.

64 - 87 MHz are all empty in Cebu (ABS-CBN TV 3 on 65.7 FM has been shut down).

Sorry but something like this would only be for FM. Also a recorder would be a nice feature because these SD players have to have a prerecorded SD or equivalent. And the MW is indeed unacceptable as it does use a 9 k step, which should be switchable. FM great and SW are acceptable. Thank you for your patience and help in your review. I thought about buying it as it is very inexpensive and does sound good. It has an expanded FM which will be useful in the near future.

@@dbird1356 You get one channel stereo playback on the main speaker, so it is not great for stereo audio, it will play the left channel only. On headphones you get full stereo with no issues on any of the modes.

Други! А вот я чё то не понял, зачем FM-1 (87-108 Mhz), если он уже есть в FM-2 (64-108 Mhz). То есть он продублирован зачем то 2 раза. Здесь FM-1 вообще не нужен получается, просто сделали бы одну кнопку FM (64-108 Mhz). Если две кнопки, то обычно делают FM-1 (64-87 Mhz), а FM-2 (87-108 Mhz)

I fixed one of mine that was totally useless on SW, picking up only internal interference. The antenna connection was loose. I thought I'd have to open the case, but just tightening the lower screw (not the one in the pivot) took care of it. I guess the FM is sensitive enough (or coupled across the gap) that I never noticed it.

Nice to have an easy fix like that. I had to epoxy my FM antenna on the cheap Baijiali radio.

I have the PL-380, PL-680, Eton 750, and looking for a replacement analog as I just gave mine to a friend. Going through your videos, or as many as I had time for, it seems like the Tecsun R9700DX stood out the most. Is it still a good choice, or s there something better? I'm not so concerned about sound, as I am reception, smooth operation and build quality. And I don't mind spending a bit more if something better is our there for around $75-100. Thanks..

I've been wanting one of these. I wonder how it compares to the XHData D901 which is a really good radio. Can get some shortwave signals on the D901 just with the whip and not hooked to an external wire. Plus the D901 sounds really good.

The D909 is one of my favorite radios - but it can't reach 5085 kHz on 60 meter band, so no WTWW in the evening. This really hurts.

Thanks for your expert reviews. Two weeks back I purchased this radio from Amazon India. Everything is exactly as per your review but the shortwave band has some peculiar problems. All short-wave bands play my local MW station at multiple frequencies. Even if I succeed to catch a shortwave station, occasionally, as soon as I put the radio on the table to listen to it, the tuned station fades away. Can you suggest some workaround? The manufacturing company did not respond.

There is no walkaround I think. Its a common problem among cheap radios as they lack proper filtering. Your MW stations broadcasts are too strong that they bleed over the short wave bands.

Not going to see metal casing on a small portable radio. The best of the “small” sets is the PL330 by Tecsun if you can deal with some mute on tuning. Remember this is a small portable radio and not a 501x, also by Tecsun. A noteworthy exception is another small one by XHData, the D 808. These sets seem to compliment each other.

@@todderbert Too bad. The non stereo issue and the AM tuning issue make this a non starter for me. I’m near Seattle and looking for a small “transistor radio” to gift to a 10 year old and give him a start and some control over what he listens to and discovers. FM stereo, at least on the hdphone Jack is an important feature. So is solid AM tuning. Analogue “look” tuning is nice but not a deal breaker. A rechargeable battery is a bigger plus but not essential. Some SW capability is a plus… An ability to discover the world and dream. And I liked the SD card option on this 328 to keep a few fav tunes at hand. A tall order of features, with a solid build and all for a low price. I have watched quite a number of your reviews. Thx for them. Still it hard to sift through it. Your top two or three suggestions greatly appreciated!? Thx 🎶😊

배터리 교체용 리본이 없는게 단점임. 특히 18650은 배터리 외피 찢어짐에 민감한 물건인데 $10 이하에 건전지 작동식인 D-219에선 없어도 이해했지만 TECSUN R-9012에도 달려있는 배터리 교체용 리본이 없는건 큰 문제임. 거기에 포인티드 18650은 생각보다 범용성이 떨어진다고 생각함. 번들 18650의 +극 높이도 높은편이라 손전등용으로 자주 쓰는 플랫헤드 18650을 쓰지 못 하는거도 문제점임.

Yes, it uses the Silicon Labs Si 4734 DSP chip. The D-368 will therefore "chuff" when tuning but it won't suffer from frequency drift unlike pure analogue receivers.

If you want Stereo on Headphones and an 18650 battery then this one, otherwise the low cost D-219 takes standard AAs, has a brighter tone, but no Stereo. Both have similar reception.
