The reason why STL fans so pissed off about handball penalties is because none have ever gone our way, right or wrong. If the refs would just stay consistent with the call, there wouldnt be an issue

The rsl slide tackle with studs up and into another players leg should be a red any day of the week. Very reckless.

The attacker cuts in front of Enrique not the other way around. I'd rather the ref stick with his onfield call there but if the ref had originally called a pen I wouldn't hate it.

The second handball that wasn’t called for CITY vs. LAFC was the same as the call against the Galaxy on Sam Adeniran. Only difference is that the one against the Galaxy WAS a penalty.

2:29 Kreilach never went fully-extended straight leg, but he doesn't bend his knee back at ALL until after the contact is made, no attempt to bail out of a very bad challenge....this should have been red

Red card all the way. The whole argument about his leg being bent is bunk. His leg doesn't bend until after contact. I've got no skin in that game, but that was about as clear of a red card as you can get.

For Atlanta, the ball hits Abrams arm where it is flush against his body. I don't understand how that can be an unnatural position.

Agreed. He's pulling his arm in, and his elbow is practically against his rib cage. Coincidentally, I think the offside call on Hines-Ike is nuts, but in a way it nullifies the bad handball call.

There was a yellow card from a tackle on Ahmed from Vancouver that I thought could have been a red. The tackle was nowhere near the ball and studs into the leg. It wasn't even reviewed though.

I'm a Sounders Supporter and they've only had 1 also. It felt ridiculous to me so I looked up the stats. It's actually pretty inline with a good portion of the league. Five teams only have 1 penalty kick attempt. Six teams only have 2 penalty kick attempts. That's over a third of the league with only 1 or 2 penalty kick attempts. Then there is Real Salt Lake, the only team with 0 penalty kick attempts. Philadelphia has had 11; the only team in double digit attempts. That means Philly is averaging a penalty kick every third game...that must be nice.

I was surprised Blanco wasn't more upset a penalty wasn't awarded after he was taken down in the box. Fortunately, that miss by the refs didn't change the outcome of the match.

I am often critical of MSL refs. Victor Rivas was excellent in the SKC Nashville game.

Yaw was contacted in the box by a defender which (softly) sent him down ending the attacking play while in the box. Penalty. dur.

Yeah. I don’t know how Wiebe can write that off as soft when there was the pullback (a pet peeve of mine that should be called every damn time until no player ever does it again) as well as contact in the legs. It’s a no-brainer PK call.

Krielach STILL had his boot up in the air and directed squarely against the knee. He may have indeed pulled back from the force of the tackle by NOT straightening his leg into the contact, but point is, studs esposed, full on contact with opponent's knee. His boot was OVER the ball, missed the ball completely and took out and potentially injured his opponent. It doesn't take much force to injure a knee. If you want to protect players and the talent on the field, this garbage tackle (admittedly far from the worst I've seen) should be red carded. See also ATL's Ibarra and other's who've similarly received Reds for similar efforts. Shaquiri's studs to the ankle didn't seem to me to be much force either but you whole heartedly advocate for an unquestionable red. You're wrong about Abram's 'handball'. His arm was not in an unnatural position. He didn't chicken wing that. He's trying to tuck his arm away, and the ball strikes him in the tricep. Might as well go back to every touch of the arm is a handball. Saved by a Offside thankfully. Totally with you on the Blanco call. You're wrong again about Lima. How do you prevent professional players from putting a boot in someone's face? Do we REALLY care about head injuries or are we just paying lipservice here? Damn lucky there were no studs in his face. RED CARD it. Players should think twice about challenging for a ball in that manner with their foot that high. Put an end to this garbage. For you Weibe, it must only be SFP if contact is made. NO where in the FIFA text for SFP does it say contact must be made. A tackle or challenge that *endangers* the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play. A missed "attempt", still qualifies. Launching yourself two footed into a tackle and missing , should still be treated as SFP. Red card it.

DC vs Atlanta I disagree that a penalty should’ve been called in the first place, but that’s because I disagree with the laws of the game. If the bottom of the shirt sleeve is taken into account during offside decisions, then it’s a part of the body you can score a goal with and no handball call should ever be called when it hits that part of the arm. You shouldn’t be able to have it both ways. Either that’s not a handball ever or it is a handball and you have to stop taking that part of the body into consideration for offside calls.

I disagree with the Orlando penalty. The call on the field was right. You can see the New York attacker moves inward and moves his legs into Orlando’s defender. The defender is just trying to catch up, and New York cuts into him, so therefore it would be a goal kick. If you look closely, you can see the the New York attacker sticks his leg out towards, the defender, causing the contact. It shouldn’t have been a penalty.

The main thing for me is, what is Enrique supposed to do there? He can't just stop on the spot can't jump out of the way, the attacked cutting in front of him has forced the contact.

i feel like the orlando defender isn't initiating the contact. The NYCFC player leaves a leg back trying to make contact with the defender.

The NYCFC player cuts in front of Enrique, he had no time to stop or try to move around the attacker, I don't know what the officials want him to do in that situation.

@@adzter96C’mon guys. The attacker has a right to not just run out of bounds; his cut in towards the goal is both reasonable and predictable. You might have an argument if this happened at midfield, not at the end line. The defender is also pushing with and extended arm. No question that’s a foul.
