i'd love to hear everyone's theories on what this song means. i heavily associated it with trauma and disillusionment/lack of consequences to the perpetrator leading to religious delusion and drug use as a coping mechanism/escapism. let me know what you think :]

My theory on Angel 92 the song is about a trauma from childhood and then carrying to adulthood: "explainaion for this is that some parts sings about childhood things and reffuring to the goverment how they "watches & listens"" and then to cope with it uses drugs and slowly becoming cannibalistic while being on drugs thats wby the hand might be bitten in the end have wings and angle ring (lemme know if I missed any points)

This song has a lot of dark meanings aha. I don’t have a very specific theory of the exact story per say, but when I was translating my own version and doing research, there are very obvious themes of S Abuse/R throughout the song. You can tell by the lyrics but when you do actual in-depth research of the Japanese phrases there are lots of underlying meanings that make it super blatant. Themes of school violence is also prominent in the song in the verses before the chorus as well. The song is probably in the view of a predator school shooter. Also like you mentioned, there are themes of drug use too, that’s most clear with the “Happa Happy happachaka” line. Though I don’t see that specific theme expressed a lot throughout the song. Your interpretation of the song is very interesting. Also, SORRY FOR THE VERY DARK INTERPRETATION 😅

@@RavynUnderscoreArtYT interesting! i see it more in the perspective of the victim. the reason I associated with drug use is because the singer mentions holes and marks in their arms and legs, which I immediately associated to track marks from heroin use + the last line of the chorus referencing drug use as well

@@rurichoo interesting, I definitely see what you mean by that drug theme now! I wouldn’t never thought of that! I do agree with the victim part, I meant more as the abuser is singing about the victim. There are of course some lines where it’s obviously in the victims view. It feels like it switches between different lines and verses to me.

I believe this song is about how childhood trauma can effect somebody in adulthood, and what coping mechanisms someone might use as a result of experiencing a traumatic childhood. A lot of the lyrics seem to convey confusion and frustration, sometimes about how things “should” work. I interpret that as the MC being confused and frustrated that their brain works differently from people that had easier upbringings, or being frustrated that they had to go through so much, because thats not how life “should” work. The lyrics before the chorus talking about something that is “listening but you cant hear it” I see as being the MC as a child, witnessing something traumatic or pining for their parents attention after being neglected. Theres also a lot of nods to bullying in school, which could be another contributing factor to the MCs rough past. And the themes of drug abuse of course would be what the MC uses later in life to cope with their emotional baggage. I interpret “angel 92” as being the drugs that the MC uses in order to escape their thoughts and feelings, something like a “guardian angel” that protects them from their own mind.

I love your translation and your inteperation of the lyrics. I loved the original song at first sound when it released and I even attempted to translate the lyrics soon after. Despite not knowing japanese, I did tons of research and used many translations and I'm happy that it sort of came out like yours! I like how your lyrics flow smoothly and it retains the original meaning well! Sometimes English songs loose original meaning for the sake of better flow, I like your balance!

Great work on these translyrics! I've been waffling over how to make the pre-chorus lines work in English and I think you did a fantastic job. I was very curious to see how you would translate the last line of the chorus but I think just leaving it like the original is probably the best call here LOL. You've got to love MARETU lyrics.
