Using a Xiaomi 14 and man, I just today compared it with s24ultra and oneplus 12 and man, it clicks better and more consistent pictures than oneplus 12 and against s24ultra, it clicks better, not oversharpened but naturally sharp and way more natural pictures in almost every mode, only on and beyond 5x is where s24ultra shines, but I guess we have xiaomi 14 ultra for that.

Oh man realisticly it depends per day for me hahaha, what "mood" I am feeling, but I use lightroom and sometimes I use what it recommend but tweak it a decent amount to make it fit the image better :)

Still rocking my Xiaomi 13 Pro 1.5 years later. One of your early videos actually convinced me to get the 13 Pro over the Ultra at the time. I haven't really been tempted to upgrade until recently, to either the Xiaomi 14 Ultra or Vivo X100 Ultra, but have only really been tempted because I've been trying astrophotography and lunar photography lately, where i think the increased zoom would be beneficial. I know the lunar images probably use a bit of AI to enhance the images but I've been impressed by the results of capturing multiple exposures and then stacking the images to reduce noise and increase detail. It's all new to me me but it's exciting trying to pull out more detail when editing a stacked raw image using Lightroom and Photoshop. Again, I'm no expert and it's definitely a learning curve, but still fun nonetheless. From the results I've achieved, I think I'll probably stick with the 13 Pro for a little while longer. The phone does everything i need it to do and the camera takes some amazing shots, even now and this video just reaffirms that I'm still good staying with this phone a bit longer.

Yeah keep the 13 pro:) see what they offer this year and then a bit later those will go down in price:) the main increase will be dynamic range and zoom for those, apart from that i think the 13 pro still holds up so well! Astro i would say Vivo is the best in 😅

Yo! I don't know if you already know this but using the portrait modes(the so called pro lens or whatever) on landscapes are so fricking GOOD. All this time I've been using all the different portrait modes only on people and when I tried them on landscapes I was blown away by how good it was. The pictures so good make me wanna print and frame em on a wall. Oh well I should've known earlier they can be used on landscapes too!

1 year and 9 months strong. Still amazes sometimes. But the inconsistency can hamper the quality sometimes. And as per the new updates I can see softer images indoor as well as lowered image quality in low light. Hoping to upgrade soon. Was looking at Oneplus 13.

I did love my 13 pro and it was sort of like having an old friend back after I smashed my Mi11 ultra as the results were so similar for me. I STILL miss the Mi11 Ultra in many ways and I have the 14 ultra right now. The Mi11 Ultra was a game changer for me and will always be that lightbulb moment when I realised how good a phone camera could be. I am still to try the 14 ultra fully out in the real world as we have had a lot of work to do getting our house ready to sell and the we had my brother in law come from the USA to bring his dog to live with us while they also move back to the UK. So we have not had any holiday's this year and with two dogs, one is still a puppy, we can't go on many of the longer walks we would normally do too.. But the 13 pro was only changed after I broke the screen and the insurance took the phone and paid me for that phone. I would still have it now if I had not dropped it. Xiaomi seem to understand phone cameras very well and what enthusiasts want from a phone camera. As I said before the Mi 11 ultra was the real trigger for me starting to enjoy photography again with my phone. My previous Huawei P20 Pro was a really good camera phone for the time, but the Xiaomi ethos for their camera's was a definite step change and one I for one am happy they did...

Fellow 13 pro user, you may or may not already do this but I suggest you to try the portrait modes(the 35mm, 50mm, etc..) on landscapes. It's worth trying! IMO quite more polished than using them on people.

really nice commentary, i feel just the way you described how the Xiaomi 13 pro captures "feelings". Totally agree on that one, no matter how sharpened and "perfect" the modern phones look, they can never capture that feeling that you get whenever you tap that shutter button on the Xiaomi 13 pro. Not even the 14 ultra, even though I gotta admit 14 Ultra has an insane setup, the approach on the 13 pro just feels right at home. Also, i find myself shooting with that 90mm soft focus portrait lens more frequently. A lot of people may find that mode either weird or useless, but for me, I grew up with the Leica thambar lens(which is exactly what the 90mm mode represents) so I find that mode really gives me the feelings of my childhood, which no other phone can give.

Hi Jermaine, what is your opinion on the Xiaomi 13 pro vs the 14 pro ones? Honestly, your videos and reviews are absolutely helpful, particularly the Vivo X100U vs Find X7U comparison. It really helped me decide, and I went with the X7U, which is a beast in every categories, especially since it's $200 cheaper than the X100 Ultra in my country.

First of thank you very much naturally! Appreciate the kind words! For the 14 pro, I never used that, I would say based on the 14 and 14 Ultra the 14 series sharpens shots a bit more and the difference between virbrant and authentic mode is less on the 14 series as well compared to the 13 Pro. Though the 14 series does have a better dynamic range. It's a bit hard to say, but while I think in some factors like CPU you will see a benefit, camera wise if you pay like half for the 13 Pro compared to the 14 Pro, go for the 13 Pro. Hope that helps a bit?

The essentials like camera quality are basically the same in both Global rom and Chinese rom. However, the Chinese rom is more optimized for Chinese users so Global apps like facebook, whatsapp, etc.. could have some problems such as having delayed notifications. You can easily fix that by tweaking the settings, but it makes the phone eats more ram and battery then it needs to compared to Global rom cuz simply put, global rom is more optimized for global apps. Other than that, google works fine. Oh and Chinese rom have more room and features to play around if you know what you're doing. But in my opinion, for a regular person, the global rom already have great enough features already. One last thing is, the Chinese rom receives updates earlier than Global rom.

The only department where my S23u beats this is raw zoom with the 10x lens. Everything else is like a tier below. I just dont know man, GCam works wonders on my S23u with infinitely less noise and better detail. Sometimes, GCam can resolve as much detail as a 50mpix photo from samsung _while being limited to 12.5 megapixels_ . Idk how samsung effed up that badly in image processing. Perhaps they didnt f up, they just dont try _at all_ which is probably the answer to my question. OneUI is still king imo. Only thing left thats keeping me in samsungs weakining grasp.

it is indeed. So when it comes to the mi11 ultra vs the 13 Pro, for me the 13 pro wins because of the feel of the shots. The mi11 Ultra is still a VERY cbable camera, but it does have the more phone photography approach compared to the 13 Pro :)

Video comparison is more likely to win the 11 ultra, zoom also. is the zoom lens from the 13 pro same picture quality as 11 ultra? some Tests say only main Camera has best picture quality on 13 pro. and the 11 gets too hot and autofocus is too Slow… I shoot a lot nature, landscape and urban, zoom ist important here. therefore I still struggle between both as a good choice. It's already been off the market for about a year in China. Good phone for its time. The Xiaomi 14 pro was a big let down after this. The main camera was a downgrade.

For real! The variable aperture doesn't do anything too. Since the sensor is smaller, you don't really notice any major difference going from let's say f/1.6 to f/1.8 . You only notice the difference when you go big numbers like f/1.6 to f/4. To be honest I feel like they should've kept the imx989 instead of making 10 different f stops which wouldn't make a noticable difference on a small sensor. Also 14 pro's telephoto is a downgrade, it's actually 2.9x native and not a true 3.2x like the 13 pro. A regular Xiaomi 14 took a step even worse at 2.6x and they gave a ton of oversharpening on the 14 to match the details of a real 3.2x lens of 13 pro but well let's just say it wasn't a success.

I've encountered it on the first day when I used but these days it seems to be handling better than it used to thanks to software updates. But most of the time I ended up using pro mode for videos as you can manually handle the exposure yourself, not to mention the extra playground that comes with pro mode is really versatile, and then boom, the exposure issues are all gone.
