But sadly many companies take offense to constructive criticism and then later stop sending me the units or in other cases send it weeks or a month later so I get fewer views. Brands want what you mentioned, endorsements, and just adverts. So if I suddenly stop reviewing a certain brand you know why...

Here in India.... It's priced almost 35k less than the s23 ultra and 15k less than the pixel 7 pro.... It's quite a luring prospect at that price I must say.... Other than the front camera and the UsB 2.0 thing this feels like an excellent device and of course with the leica colour science and the rear camera advantages.....

Yes I remember that (recently sold my 11 Ultra) it would get very hot running GPS and charging at the same time. about 50 degrees almost to the touch the metal frame of it and near the camera.

I've had this phone for a week and I absolutely love it, I imported the blue leather version which isn't even available in EU for €850. I think it's a great buy only at this kind of price though, when you reach >1k euros the S23 Ultra or an eventual 13 Ultra definitely make more sense to me.

Xiaomi have dropped the ball, when it comes to the pricing here. I just checked the pricing and they are 100 dollars less than the S23 Ultra! Who in their right mind would buy it at that price. It's very good phone, but it has significant shortcomings as a flagship(No 4k front facing camera, and USB 2.0). And honestly a mediocre software experience compared to its Android rivals. I think this is going to affect their sales, specifically in Europe. Appreciate the detailed review as always Sir Chris✌👍

Thank you for the updated review. Would you say the cameras on the Honor Magic 5 Pro are overall better? Or individually, which phone wins for UW, Main, Telephoto? I got the 13 Pro for about 900 Euro, 200 cheaper than the S23 Ultra in Romania, and got a 180 Euro Robot Vacuum as a preorder bonus. I wonder if I should return it and wait for the Magic 5 Pro preorder.

Camera e ok, dar de exemplu S23 are per total camere mai bune decat 13 si S23 Ultra mai bune decat 13 Pro. Trebuie sa te obisnuiesti cu MIUI 14, dar e destul de adaptabil ca sa il customizezi. Eu l-am returnat pentru ca per total sistemul de camere nu mi se pare destul de echilibrat, camera ultrawide si telefoto sunt bune, dar nu la pretul asta. Astept lansarea Xiaomi 13 Ultra, care pare sa aiba multe imbunatatiri pe parte de camere. In rest mi-a placut.

Despite it's shortcomings I would still want to try this phone out in the states and see how well it operates. I've had Xiaomi in the past and enjoyed using their phones overall. I'm just wondering if it's better than the Vivo X90 Pro Global.

Having used both the Vivo has a better main camera and ultrawide. BUT it's video is far worse, I gave up on my Vivo X90 Pro and Pro+ due to the colours Vivo uses for video. Always a bit too bright, off white balance even using manual mode I couldn't get decent results I liked. A shame really as the main camera is a stunner with the Zeiss optics and T* coating.

13 Pro (China ROM , flashed to EU) owner here. Obviously it was cheaper to import, but sort of expected in this economy and market. While i appreciate your effort and approach, you probably should start noting things that maybe viable to you and for your style and way to use devices, for example the USB certification, or selfie camera for example (i would buy a phone without front facing camera, if any manufacturer out there does one on a dare.. hate these things, and i also see it as one more vector of privacy attack). So again. I will trade off 1080p front facing, for an included 120W GaN charger (which it has). Or for USB 3.2 but bigger battery (just an example). It's actually one of the reason i stopped been a regular viewer here .. anyway moving on. And one last bit - when you're comparing to Samsung, please let's not forget, that they don't have such charging speeds, don't include even their slow charger in the box , and even the free market price of their slow charger is actually higher than the open price of Mi's 120 GaN charger. I mean, you talk about prices and comparisons, if you don't wanna sound biased all the time (besides them not sending you review units, which is wrong) i'd suggest put things and prices in comparison. For example - Galaxy S23 Ultra released with a severe price discounts, for the 512GB accross Europe, and the price you're showing in amazon reflects that. But in fact, where i live, is still more expensive than the 13 Pro. And so on and so forth .. it's not hating, just constructive criticism (sorry if it's a messy response, obviously English's not my native)

Thanks for the honest review! I am in China and Xiaomi 13 Pro retail price here is 4999RMB or roughly $730, while S23 Ultra is at $1300. Personally I think the Oneplus 11 at $590 is truly the flagship killer these days, or the Pixel 7 Pro

Nice review, the phone is very decent, maybe a little overpriced. Actually I have the regular 13 version. The quality of the hardware is on par with the other flagships. And finally ip certified, all accessories in the box, fast charging. USB 2.0 speed is mentioned everywhere, but for me is not a deal breaker. The partnership with Leica costs money, so if the company wants to make profit, the price must go up. Another aspect is the software, but miui 14 is improved the experience, and is not that bad, even if it is not that popular. I like the vanilla 13, is a powerful compact device. Camere department is decent, it is not the best but better than the oneplus 11 which I tested also. Samsung s23 is about the same price, but don't forget, samsung is producing almost all the parts used in their products. 👍👍👍👍

They were fine when top models were below ~500 so you could justify mid everything except specs on paper including always present and introduced bugs with software updates. Yeah price is insane. But on the other hand it depends on a country. Here in Serbia its 50e more expensive than S23+ and around 160e heheaper than S23 Ultra, plus there was promo period with another 160-170e discount. Still at 1300e (regular price) here its expensive. But, its better phone than S23+ which costs the same (50e +/- in this price segment is neglible). But in Spain that price chaotic, and S23 Ultra is "cheap", over 250e cheaper than in Serbia.

The device is fun and some of the pictures i made are dslr level without garbage software blurr. Reeeaally nice. 120w charging is crazy fast. It has much going for it and i can recommend it if you want something different. Or maybe wait for the ultra. Oh and i agree with all points made. Usb 2 and FHD front facing needs to die.

You'll be glad to hear that here in mid April 2023 the price of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is £1,099 GBP for the 256GB version on the Mi Store app, which would be around €1,247 euros. Still not cheap but a little better.

I have a problem with Xiaomi 13, when i take long exposure photos in pro mode using wide or tele, i see hot pixels even if camera is covered, nothing is visible there, pitch black, only hot pixels are, always at same places only in ultrawide it doesnt happen, camera can be defective or that's rather soft defect?

You pay for ceramic design and overall top notch performance and bigger lens camera. Display is best in class. Battery and charging? Best in class. Games performance and cooling? Best in class. This is not only cosmetic changing this is huge inprovement so the price is high and that is something must be respected i think.

Curved screens and corners are evil! Though no micro sd on the S23U it has only a slight curve on sides and no corner curves. Much better for media and actually using the display. Got a very good trade in for my N20U, so got the 1GB version. BTW, what's the point of the speed if little storage to actually use it? App and media juggling seems silly.

In UK, the base Xiaomi 13 pro is £150 cheaper than the S23 Ultra. It is different everywhere so you need to check for your region.

Given xiaomis price range history, the 13 series had a significant jump so I'd say a little overpriced given their overall performance. 13 could've been around 35k and 13 pro around 45k. I think that would've boosted their sales and people might actually maybe prefer them over samsung and iphone

I honestly hated the global version after being used to the Chinese ROM, buuuuut since the seller already had the bootloader unlocked for me, I flashed the xiaomi eu ROM myself and I've never been happier : P Nice perk having the bootloader already unlocked, considering last time I did that it took forever waiting for the code to complete the process on my Mi 11.

So i dont see your previous reply for some reason.... as for the rom, yea I'm using Poco X3 Pro and personally unlocked bootloader and flashed xiaomi eu rom. If I would get from AE I would ask them to send me one unpacked and sealed because I have no problem doing it myself and would rather have comfort in knowing that the package wasnt tampered with. However, i still don't know how trustworthy those sellers are, but i saw the prices and they were quite below what is priced regularly in europe... please let me know about your previous reply

That's quite something about the pricing because I bought this 13 pro recently for 887.88 euros in India which is significantly cheaper than the iPhone or the Samsung S 23 ultra. I could clearly bet on this camera and say I have made the right decision I saved a lot, maybe they knew that people and Europe or other parts of the world would not consider it that much and potentially most of the buyers of these chinese phones lie in Asian countries mainly, and that could be the factor it is cheaper here, where as the iphones are sold more in European or other parts of the world than in Asia maybe and that's why they are expensive in India or any Asian countries I am not an expert just guessing

For all those saying iPhone is overpriced. It is, but the value of iPhone is in the resale value. However I have noticed that iPhone resale values are also going down. Even iPhone has reduced the trade in prices of their devices. That said. the rate of depreciation of android devices is ridiculously fast. Android manufacturers drop prices after some months, iPhone doesn’t. A used/refurbished iPhone 12 Pro Max would sell the same or a little less a last year S22 Ultra here in the UK. (£450-650).

Yes, that's very true the iPhones hold their value much better. Take a look at how quickly the S23 Ultra depreciated, I paid 1479 euros for it and now I see new ones for 1100-1200 euros.

Here in france it is priced 1249€ and xiaomi is offering a 150€ bonus when trading. S23 ultra is priced the very same price retail so price argument does not stand. Usb-C 2.0 i totally agree... I skipped this one and i am waiting for the 13 ultra instead. Will be more expensive but i think it will be justified this time

i took it 29th of march .. Its big update from xiaomi 12 pro that i took last year Its LTPO 3...even if u got 60refresh rate the phone can drop to 1...no need full high brightness.. Lets see if ultra will come this year..

I don't understand why people are complaining about the price? I can see clearly that in Macau, the price is easy cheaper than ultra 23 and iPhone. For example.... If 13 pro version 12 gb + 512 cost 7600hkd , S23ultra same storage and ram cost 10600hkd . 3000 difference. 50 mp Triple cam with DSLR like pictures and video in mi vs digitally mimicking DSLR like on other phone.. those bokeh . Fast charging . Infrared port for extra tv like remote. Latest snapdragon chip like other flagdhip phone . Leica. All these for 500 to 700 dollar cheaper. And for poor guy like me, I don't use iphone because I need to used premium cracked software on Android phone. So.. Xiaomi does all these for me .. Yes front facing cam is not good than galaxy but I'm not a front cam user.

A lot of youtubers and media should stop trying to make people believe and above all stop making Xiaomi believe that they are at the level of Apple and Samsung, no one (12 people maybe 🤔) buys a $1000 Xiaomi, and even now, on the high end as well as the mid-range, they are in freefall, their sales have dropped by 37% and their profits by almost 70%.
