The IR is with the camera setup. This is actually an advantage if you want to do a little bit of trolling outside as you no longer need to point it like a remote making it obvious you're the one changing the channel, and you can instead act like you're scrolling through socials instead while aiming your cam to the TV general direction with your cam.

Excellent review mate. But can you please confirm whether or not it is possible to switch between the various cameras whilst recording at 4k 60 fps? Some phones only offer variable switching between cameras at 4k 30 fps.

I watched loads of video of this phone, mostly my hungarian fellas reported an issue about the main cam getting foggy, mine is coming in a few days but worried about that issue. Also your vids when you show 4k 60 is nice, but then 4k 30 looks so hazy, not sure if its caused by that or just the hdr is that bad but i d not think so, you just made me worried even more:(

take the phone in the cold around 10*C (50*F) and start recording a video in 4k and within 3 minutes you have fog on main lens. Manufacturing defect for this type. f the lens fogs up, it will be necessary to clean it from the inside after a while...how? Fog = water = dirty lens

31mins is what Xiaomi quoted. My test result was 41mins and the IR blaster playing hide-and-seek adds to the mystery of the phone.

By default it should be 40ish minutes, u need to enable boost in battery settings to get close to 30

Great review :) Taken to consideration that Xiaomi presented 3 different phones in the 14 series, the 14, the 14 Pro, and the 14 Ultra, then this one has to be the "Vanilla" one ;) Only thing not being "vanilla" about it is the fact that if living in different countries than China, even the Global "vanilla" 14, costs a third more than the chinese version.

Depends on your preferences... if u game a lot then xiaomi is the way to go, but iphone's camera are a bit better. Also you get many perks with the xiaomi like fast charging and a lot more UI customisations than the iphone

Not having an SD card slot is a deal breaker for me... when I transferred my pics and videos from my redmi 8 to my redmi 10 it took about 5 seconds...I can't imagine how long it would take to transfer 4k videos through WiFi as you would have to do for this phone... Actually, I can, it would probably take several hours...no thanks. I'll stick with the redmi side until they stop supporting SD storage.

They might have usb-c but I have yet to see a usb-c flash drive...and even if there were USB-c flash drives you still have to transfer to the flash drive, which could still take over an hour and then transfer it back to the new phone...very different from taking an SD card out of 1 phone and putting it in the other and be on your way.

Cons from reviews I have seen is poor HDR on front-facing camera and fingerprint magnet on some colours, Other than this, Xiaomi 14 beats iPhone 15 and Samsung in many categories. Best!!.. Hopefully, the hardware durability isn't a failure like my previous experience with Poco F1, Xiaomi 11, Redmi 10, etc.. Xiaomi is notorious for poor hardware.

Yes i later learnt that bright sun causes the foggy lens and lots of glare. It only happens if your filming directly towards the sun. If you point the opposite direction It will record with no issues, no foggy lens

@@ChigzTech Hmm, by foggy lenses I've meant actual condensation inside the camera. It had happened to reviewers in Barcelona, you can find some examples on YT. When you take pictures "against the sun" they will always be to bright, with this foggy-like effect, but sun is not causing the vapour to appear inside your phone.

If is Fingerprint magnet only CONS, then you can just choose black variant where is mat finish on the back. I think that is not so much fingerprint magnet, or is not at all. Ladies can choose Pink variant which has leather on the back. But I think that Pink variant is rare because is not on every market. But is very nice. Also funny how you say Samsung screen having more vibrant colours, when there was all the reporting of dull colours and Samsung tehn adding slider to increase saturation.

If it was a tad smaller and didn't have that thick camera bump, I would have bought it. Instead, I got the S24 (regular) and its screen is atrocious. Worst viewing angles of any phone I've owned/seen, colors shift to green and it looks terrible even at the slightest angle. Come to find out many people are complaining about this, but none of the reviews on KZbin make a mention of it. Which made me realize that most of these "reviews" (like over 90%) are nothing more than paid advertisements and/or clickbait "praying to get views" videos.
