Nice review, looks almost like a perfect purifier! What bothers me is that they don't provide filter rating? The only thing that I have seen is that they claim E11 that is 95% effective - and that is NOT HEPA. (EPA filters are E10, E11 and E12, HEPA starts at H13, H14 and H15) Competition like Sharp, Philips or Rowenta claim to have H13 (99,97%) - and it's about that last 5% of smallest most harmful particles that will remain in your air (below 0,3 µm). And they advertise, "we have better CADR than Philips" - sure, since you need double the air pressure to get the same CADR at H13 compared to E11 filter grade....

You have to understand this product is not made to satisfy the real need, but the emotional need of clean/safe air inside their home for a population that lives in unsafe environment due to the pollution levels.

You dont know what you are talking about. The most harmful particles are PM 2.5 and PM 10. 2.5 is definitely stopped by this purifier. And yes, it is HEPA.

I've had a Airpurifier Pro for about 2 years. Its perfect, I just leave it on Auto and it takes care of everything, I think I've used 3 filters? It detects when I am using a soldiering iorn 3 rooms away or cooking in the next room and ramps up the fan extremely quickly :) Really helped the Air as the last person living here smoked. Now you can't tell. (I use organics filter)

I have this unit and it has a couple problems... 1. It will not stay in Favorite Mode for more than 3 hours - It switch’s to Auto Mode... 2. Auto Mode slows the fan to about zero once is cleans the air to 30ppm (AQI ~ 90) So this unit will not totally clean the air below 30ppm given the firmware setup... They need to allow you to select the time It switches to Auto Mode and in Auto Mode you should be able to adjust the algorithm to a lower ppm shutoff setting of say 10ppm instead of 30ppm...

Can it reduce the dust in the flat enough so I can clean less often? This would be my main use-case. Also, the display and the better sensor is nice, but not "I would pay 2x as much" nice. Would you agree?

I could not exactly tell you that. (I think there is less dust in my apartment, but I never clean myself so I would not really know...) I see your point about the display and sensor. Although it is a really nice feature I wouldn't say it's worth double. (In China the price is not double that of the 2nd generation model though) I do suspect Xiaomi might be dropping the 2nd generation this year in favor of the 2S, so all their air purifiers have that display.

There is an hidden feature, if you setup your app to " Mainland " and go to the Device settings, you can find a turbo mode witch can perform faster to coverage 42~45m². after that long press Favorite icon and you see an orange bar and this is the turbo mode

Nice catch! I had not seen that but I just checked it out. It seems that the turbo mode is only on the Air Purifier 2 and not on the 2S. I used to have it enabled on the air purifier 2, but completely forgot about it! thanks! :)

How much carbon does the filter come with? Can it absorb VOCs? It seems not... because the carbon is within the HEPA filter and not before the HEPA filter. HEPA filter blocks VOC and doesn't allow the carbon to absorb it>

Using a Cute plastic faux thatch bin (Target), An AC infinity inline Duct Fan, a little velcro tape, and some 3M High Static HEPA grade Filter media for AC units. I just built my own hi grade HEPA level fitler for home in my room, and it uses 45 Watts, and moves approximately 400 CFM. Total cost = $75, replacing the filter is $20. Total even with extra filter is less than 1/2 the price of this, and I have a filter at the same filtration grade but moves 2x as much air.

how did you add it to the MiHome app? it doesnt list the "Smart Air Purifier 2S" - none of my Smart devices are able to detect it via bluetooth either but it seems to broadcast itself over wireless just fine, not that this is helping in any way

I'm not entirely sure if I understand your question correctly. The Airpurifier connects over WiFi and connects directly to your router. If your list is not showing it, check in the settings of the APP if the localization settings are set to 'Mainland China'. (-I think that is the only locale-setting that is currently supporting this device.) I hope that might solve your problem

Thanks for the nice video and expatiation. I have an apartment of 65 m2 with 3 rooms( living room~ 20m2, kitchen~10 m2 and bedroom~18m2). I don't know if I should go for a pro or a purifier 2s would be sufficient. I plan to get a wood burner so even though I live in a city with ok fresh air I would be nice to have.

Good question, I think it also depends on the amount of separation between your rooms (walls, doors etc) You might consider an air purifier pro (up to about 60m2) , or perhaps get two air purifier-2 models. (They are pretty much the price of the pro right now...) -Of course you could also chose any of them and carry it over to the bedroom in the evening, if you don't mind doing that.

After the last update of MI Home (version 5.4.54) the air purifier 2s that was installed in my phone with the previous version simply disappeared. With this MI home version I can´t have it installed as it is not recognized. I have tried to add this device many times, either manually or by scanning without success. I have restarted the device and pushing both buttons for 5 second and still the same problem. In summary, it worked fine until the last update of the MI home app. Now it´s not connecting. Any ideas?

yes, it should have different fan-speeds to cover a larger area, and that probably means you will have to replace the filter more than just once per 6 months. I actually don't have the PRO, so can't test it out right now

It won't stop working, but by the time the filter is expired, it will give you the occasional notification reminding you that the filter is expired.

It's best to let your air purifier run 24 hours per day. That way you can ensure you always have clean air inside the room. Once you turn it out, airborne contaminants that float into the room can start to build up again.

It consumes about 30watts, so 1kWh would be 1000/30=33,(3) hours of nonstop working. Or 0.03*720=21.6 kWh of electricity consumed in a month of nonstop working. Multiply 21.6 to your tariff and get the estimate bill.

It have EPA filter, which is "standard/economic" and you get in box, and it is Blue. You can buy replacement filter for this model and it is called "enhanced" filter which contains HEPA filter and it is Green color.

I have two of the Viomi portable water filters here so I can do a review on those. I am figuring out a better way to test the water quality. I have tried out doing some tests using the Xiaomi TDS pen, but I actually like to measure more detailed specs like amounts of metal in the water, etc.. The built-in kitchen water purifier is also still on my list of things I want to get after that though! In that case I could compare that with the portable waterfilters as well, would make sense ;)

i have a question... why does the 2s and Pro have exactly the same size and type of air filters? I see the pro is bigger with more plastic and an extra light button on the back. but if its the exact same size filter that makes no sense? im guessing if there is a stronger fan (may not be true i dont see it mentioned in the specs) in any case the filter would get clogged up in half the time. the filter in the pro should be bigger but it is not... im thinking something is not adding up here... One more thing the air purifier 2 does not have the same size as the 2s the Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s get a device with a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) value of 310m³ / h and can cover a room the size of between 21-32 square metres. This is quite lower than that of the second-gen Mi Purifier 2 and Mi Purifier Pro. For clarity, the Purifier 2 has a CADR of 406m3/h and can cover a working area of 48 square metres.

Same filter works for both. There are several varieties (I know at least 3) of such filters, each in a different color, but any of those should work on both 2S and Pro. Also the only reason why Purifier 2 had wider coverage is because it had Turbo Mode, the 2S does not. That Turbo mode is annoyingly loud, though.
