5G is a huge bonus, if I decide to upgrade in the next couple of years having the 5G available will lock in a better return than those without 5G. I ordered one last week and it was the 5G that influenced my choice in a market with so many phones that are clones of each other this one stands out.

I have measured 500-800 MBit/s in Berlin on T-Mobile 5G with this device. Upload was around 150 MBit/s. Several times faster than common 4G speeds. This is on the 3.5 GHz band. T-Mobile Germany also has quite substantial coverage with 5G on 2.1 GHz, but currently this device is not able to use that. The spectrum is shared with 4G, this requires a software update which is not yet available. In the meantime it will only work as a 4G device on that band.

I have a flight in 3 days so I won't be able to buy this phone but as soon as I get back I'm gonna order it. The phones at my disposal were the iPhone SE 2020, Xiaomi mi note 10 and This lite version of the xiaomi phone. I figured this will be the best option for me as it is a very good price with a discount here and I like it as I don't use my phone very often.

Thanks for the review. I have this phone 6/128GB for GBP 319. I am not into smartphones, had to buy one due to lockdown and needing the NFC feature to scan bio-metrics on my passport. The phone is very good, feels fast, fingerprint is accurate and fast, its AMOLED screen is good quality, GPS is fast and accurate (3m) even indoors, battery is 2 days for me, sound from the speakers is good and loud, the cover case it comes with is excellent. I am mostly using the phone as a wifi hotspot for my laptop, it is faster than my 4G dongle, the phone shows 4G+ on Giffgaff (O2 UK). Now the following is highly personal - I don't know how to carry this thing around? I would prefer something around 5inch size if I could chose something in around GBP 400 range, as I mentioned earlier, didn't need another phone except the need to use NFC. Didn't test the 5G as you asked, but 4G+ is present and fast.

Thanks for you excellent end user run down on how the phone performs in real life, I have one on the way as the battery on my old mobile has given up working from home in lockdown it gets a fair thrashing and this phone seemed to tick all the boxes especially future proofing as it will keep its value because it has 5G .

I am wondering how the Snapdragon 765 will hold up in the future. I am currently using my Mi 6 with 835 and I am so glad that I went with the flagship processor at that time as the phone is still going strong and has great performance even with the newest updates for my device (MIUI 11 / Android 9). I am thinking of upgrading but I am unsure wether the 765 will get me the same long lasting performance as the 835 did.

The 765 should hold up pretty well, seems like a pretty good chip. In fact OnePlus made the Nord because they thought the 765 was a good enough budget chip to use finally.

Redmi 10x Pro with the Dimensity 820 is an absolute killer and slaughters the SD765G, unfortunately it doesn't have band 20(800MHz) which we need in the UK or I would be getting that for sure or even anything with the dimensity 1000.

Xiaomi has applied p2i nano coating to this phone as with other models for splash resistance but it wasn't advertised to have a specific IP rating. And yes, there's a gasket stuck to the SIM tray lid.
