Xiaomi mi band 8 review some negative points

So we finally got a mi band 8 for a review. So as a fitness tracker it seems to be really good in every way possible, however due to the fact that its only the Chinese version that is currently available it pretty much ruins the entire experience. You will find more info in my review.

Such a great video! I watched over 10 video reviews of this band and yours is easily the best one. The only reason why I don't suibscribe is because I watch this only because I wanna purchase this particular product. The only minus on the review I would see is, that in other reviews they says that the capsule of the mi band looks like ceramic but is actuall still plastic, but it's just their word againts yours and I don't care tbh. I really really like that in every review you say if you can get out of the stopwatch or timer without stopping it. It is one of the features I care about. I had been wearing Mi band daily 24/7 since Mi band 3, 4, and till now I have the 5th generation. I am using it mainly as alarm in the morning, notifications and clock, stopwatch, timer. I am most likely gonna upgrade from 5 to 8 because I really like the ambient light because when I wake up at the middle of the night It ain't good for my eyes. Also I like that on this model I could set the alarm straight from the mi band without using the app because in past happened that I turned it off on the phone but it didn't turned off on the watch and vice versa but only like 2 times over 5 years. I also like that now I can get out of the stopwatch without stopping it, I hope they will add it also for the timer in one of the software updates. The only two things why am I considering to wait for next generation is the annoying charger and the ambient light is new feature so probably it will get better in next generation. But most likely I will get this one in the global version, hopefully they will release it in the next 2 weeks. I am also considering to get something bigger/nicer like the Haylou Solar Plus RT3 but I am afraid it wouldn't bee comfortable to sleep with, that's the reason I am sitcking with the Mi Band series for years now. Oh and when it goes for the app I am using third party, Notify & Fitness for Mi Band, instead of the official one. But looks like over the years they catched up with features and I am not sure if the Notify & Fitness for Mi Band is even compatible with this model anymore. Will have to check that up. I don't know how mi band 7 was, since I skipped it, but compared to mi band 6 it feels like a step back. Screen is way better, but it lacks pretty basic features, like lift to wake and such. Also, calorie counter is hilariously optimistic, it overreads by like 50%. Step counter is probably similar to old one, at least it feels somewhat similar, but other sensors are really wonky. Oxygen sensor is laughable at best, sleep monitoring gets interrupted by activity tracker. Where mi band 6 was tracking sleep actually pretty well, mi band 8 thinks you're just standing for 5-6 hours every night. But the bracelet is better, I guess. In 2 years of wearing mi band 6 I've torn like 4 bracelets, and they never felt durable. On mi band 8,at least initially bracelet feels slightly more rugged. Connection to phone is OK I guess, I doubt most people will keep it constantly connected to phone anyway, cuz, like, just why. Syncing all the time just drains battery faster. Overall, for 40 bucks or so, it feels somewhat pati, but it really creates an impression that some features were sacrificed or cheaped out on in favour of significantly better display.

Does it count steps continuously through out the day, from 00:00 to 23:59 like a smartwatch does, and also have a watchface that displays it in real time without having to start some activity everyday? Thanks in advance.

do you mean that it counts the entire steps in a day yes it does anddo you mean if it can show the time with aod ? because it can​@@SteliosSioulas

Could you test if the cycle mode works without the phone connected? I really want to use it for cycling and don't want to carry my phone. I don't need I to show the route I just want to see the distance driven and calories burned.

I got recently the xiaomi smartband 8 pro and its all fine but I think there's a problem in the data presented of mi fitness app in the pool swimming mode. The avarage speed/rithm (time per 100 meters) as well the top rithm/speed doesn't fit well with the results atached to each 100 lap shown (all are shown in green horizontal bars). I ask you to give a review and opinion on that. I would apreciated so much! TY

When I want to set up my calories and steps goals, it writes : Can't set! It always stays on 500 ckal and 6000 steps. Can anybody help me with that please?

I'm the proud owner of a Mi Band 8 (I previously had Mi Bands 6 4 2 1). Does any one know how to see the distance i walk in a day? I can see steps and calories, but the distance has disappeared (compared to previous versions). Thanks

@@user-os2kl2vy5b Yes I got it a week ago and I really like it! I switched from Mi Band 5. I love that I can set basically everything directly from the band itself, the automatic brightness and that I can leave running the stopwatch in the background. I hope they will add it also for the timer in future update.

tbh, this review is a bit weird. The charging always snaps on properly and charges. your a little dramatic on this part

Be using mi band 8 for 5 days, i notice that the step count is inaccurate. It count when i move my hand while sitting. but when i walk with my hand still, it doesn't count. Do you know how to fix it?
