I use a Huawei watch for cycling, and there are some genuinely useful things it tells me. It will tell me how much time I spent with different metabolism (aerobic vs anaerobic), and it will give me a grade for how much of an improvement that particular session has made for me in both metabolic processes, which is important to me since I do sprints. It also measures strain and estimates my recovery time, which I find genuinely useful, along with tracking my speed and route. But by far the most useful thing is actually telling me how long I've slept for, and I'd get the whoop strap for the sleeping metrics. This is because I have sleeping difficulties. :') The point is, my regular watch has all the features that are genuinely useful to me in what I do, so the whoop makes no sense, but sleeping data would be very beneficial to me because I have difficulties, so I think this is only really useful to people who have a genuine need for it :)

I think it is targeted at high performing athletes who care about this data. I wear it and my coach uses the data that uploads to my Training Peaks every day to monitor my recovery and fatigue throughout training blocks. If I wasn't an athlete I would not wear one. I think the regular person should get a smart watch and get way more functionality, but for me this is the best option!

Steps tracking has been added as of this month. How is your experience with that. Does this track blood oxygen all day? Does it track heart rate throughout the day?
@SomeoneBeginingWithIАй бұрын
It tracks heartrate constantly through the day and night. You can see detailed data of exactly what your heartrate was the whole time you are wearing the sensor. It only tracks oxygen while you're sleeping, and uses that to calculate recovery. If your oxygen is low or your temperature or respiratory rate is high while you're sleeping, that suggests you might be ill, so it will give you a lower recovery score and recommend that you rest more that day. It doesn't give real-time information about your oxygen or temperature.
@warrenvazquez9 ай бұрын
The worst thing is that the data is consistently poor and frequently it is objectively wrong. I’ve tried two generations of whoop with the same random spikes in hr etc. the strain score and recommendations therefore are based on flawed information. Virtually useless. The only thing that was helpful was the habit tracker (which you can benefit from without the tech)

How can it know how much my body is « strained »?
@TonyThaHippo6 ай бұрын
I know it's been a bit but here's from the app "Strain refers to the exertion you put on your body. Your Day Strain is the cumulative measure of all the Strain you build over the course of an entire day. This includes your activities, but also Strain you might accumulate from just going about your day. Activity Strain can be further broken down into cardiovascular and muscular load. Currently, only Strength Trainer activities show your muscular load. Note that Strain is logarithmic, not linear. This means that the Strain of individual activities won't add up to your total Day Strain. Instead, the higher your Strain gets, the harder it is to build more." There's a bit more, but currently on the free trial to see how I like it. Definitely feel a difference vs the apple watch. As I can forget its on my arm vs the extra weight of the AW.
@TonyThaHippo6 ай бұрын
Also, "How is Strain measured? 父 X % 0 9.9|10 13.9|14 17.9 18 19 20 21 Strain is measured on a scale from 0 to 21: Light (0-9) Minimal exertion is being put on the body, which encourages active recovery. Moderate (10-13) Moderate exertion is being put on the body, which balances fitness gains and recovery. High (14-17) Increased exertion which builds fitness gains, but makes it more difficult for your body to recover the next day. All Out (18-21) Significant exertion which increases fitness gains, but puts your body at greater risk for injury or overtraining."

I have been wearing my WHOOP now for four years, it is hands-down, not only the best fitness tracker, but one of the only must have subscriptions in my life. I wear an Apple Watch and a WHOOP, I mainly use the Apple Watch as a simple device to know, phone calls and text messages, and a WHOOP does the rest. Having the ability to track your sleep, journal, and then use all the data to actually improve. Your life has been life-changing for me. Could not recommend WHOOP more if you want to take your health seriously! Also, a common misconception about WHOOP is that you don’t need one because you don’t work out or are not an active lifestyle person, that could not be more incorrect as it is more so designed for your every day life not just your workouts.

Because steps truly have no impact on your physical health. Steps would be tracked via strain, which is automatically calculated into your personal algorithm for your body.
