Mine keeps saying NO DEVICES FOUND after I start mini app. If I hit plus sign I get nothing. Had to set up a password and username and I got an email with activation but after that nothing. It still says No devices found.

Pocket wifi can also be used to as wifi extender. Just go to its admin page then tweak it. My concern is, does this item detects the wifi stronger than the pocket wifi?

Pocket wifi? do you mean those devices that give you wifi signal and connect you via mobile cellular network? They are very popular in Japan but in my country they are not, here it's usually more convenient to grab another SIM card. So I never tried to do something like that

I don't really see the point, if you take a device like that and turn it into a wifi extender you can't use it as a mobile hotspot on cellular network. and if you want to be mobile and not connected on 1 spot, so you won't be able to stay on the same WiFi anyway... So, can you explain for what reasons would you use it this way? and, from which country are you? are those devices popular there?

Sadly it really depends on the router and on it's neighbor networks etc. I think if you want the best result, grab so wifi testing app for your phone and find the spot that the signal strength is about 70% or so, when it's still stable but slightly worse. I think it will be the best place to put it there.

Will the wifi extender signal can have access up to second floor?

It's a small extender that can add signal to a spot in the room or in another nearby room. but it probably won't be enough to provide signal to another floor I think.

i use mine to extend to the second floor, signal went from poor to excellent. couldn't stream 480p and 1080p works perfectly

no, this is only an extender and the USB port only provides power. So in your case this won't help you. You can search for some cheap WiFi adapters maybe

You can but I learned it the hard way. you will need to find an old APK of the Mi home app, otherwise the new one might not be able to find it. the old version will easily find it. you might need to also reset the adapter by inserting a pin for a few seconds to the reset button.

Yes it is. I turn off my router every night and when I turn it on the repeater reconnects pretty fast to it.

There's no need in the QR code, just download the Mi home app (you might need an older version)

i keep trying to do this shit. I set my mi home region to mainland china since the repeater I got had chinese packaging and even the online retailer said it the mi home region should be mainland china, yet I still keep getting connection time out. I already set the router to wpa2 and aes and still connection time out.

Did you try to reset it from it's reset button as well? maybe try to connect it to some other network to make sure it's not something with your router

login to what? you configure it from your phone and you need to set the password for you existing WiFi so it will extend it.

The repeater should be close enough to the router to get a good signal from it, I would say it should be somewhere in the middle but your result might vary according to your environment.

I use the TP-Link TD-W9980 You can watch about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn6rkmV5lrSKfMU If you are about to buy 1, I would really recommend finding the newer model with AC support but note that it doesn't have a modem so get a simple modem from your ISP and use it as bridge.

it doesn't really matter where, the wifi is still the same wifi so there's no reason for it not to work. If you can't find it in the app, try maybe getting an older version of the app it worked for some people this way
