Redmi downgraded the global version of this phone. The Chinese version came with a 6,200mAh battery, ip69 rating, while this global version came with a 5,110mAh battery and ip68 rating. This is messed up. Edit: More bad news. The Chinese version came with a telephoto camera in place of the macro camera.

The closest upgrade camera wise that isn't Pixel - either Samsung S23+/24+ (I need at least 6.5 inch, but smaller than 6.75 inch, cos contrarily it's more sensible to just carry a fold type) or Xiaomi 13T/14T/Pros. Other phones are either curved, too heavy for a phone, lacking software updates (Motorola, Sony), using garbage SoCs (Exynos and Tensor), unavailable in my country (Honor, Vivo, ZTE), straight up ugly designed (all the circle camera islands) or overkill for my use cases (casual user, no mobile gaming, but prefer more accurate cameras). I don't plan on upgrading from 8T (does everything I want and need) till mid-late 2026, so hopefully something more justifiable comes out to the market.

Depends on what you need, If you play game alot get redmi K series or POCO. If you're social media person and don't really care about gaming get redmi note series you will get good phone with best battery and no heating (High performance CPU on POCO best for gaming but it consume alot of power and also heating). So the choice is yours.

Thats why the chinese version is better. It doesnt have the 200 megapixel but it has the 50megapixel lighthunter 800 same as the xiaomi 15. And it has 6200 mah instead of the 5110 mah in the global but the chinese version only has 90watts charging which is still ok.

Got the note 12 pro and will never buy a middle price (xiaomi) phone again, sadly. Xiaomi was almost competing with flagships in the past. Now I have a bad battery after 1.5 years, bad connections and bad update support because next model is out too fast. They concentrate on their 1400€ flagships now. The good times with Mi9 etc are over.

I have the Chinese version. The cameras are not good, the photos are too dark, the contrast is too strong, it fixes shadows very poorly. There is no difference in quality when HDR and AI are on or off. There is a big difference in color, contrast, etc. between the main camera and the 2.5x zoom camera... Probably because the main camera and the zoom camera are not from the same manufacturer... I don't know why didn't put two of the same Sony cameras for the main and zoom, and I don't like that. The night mode on the zoom camera doesn't work. When zooming in, the image on the phone screen looks much better than when taking a picture. In pro mode when using the zoom camera there is no stability at all, it shakes too much. The automatic settings of the camera are much more stable when using the zoom but the image is very bad. Older, cheaper phone models take much better photos when it comes to color, contrast, light, shadows, for example the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
