Aqara is integrated in Xiaomi ecosystem. So if your hub works with alexa then probably your sensors will also work

Does it need a hub? Compatible with Home Assistant? Works strictly locally? (In HA) or do I need an active internet connection How fast is it? especially in HA? How long the batteries hold? What kind of batteries? Range?

It needs a ZigBee compatible HUB, I use it with Mi Home, after you set it up it should also work just locally. Mine runs fine since this review with no battery replacement yet.

I stopped trying to use google home a long time ago as it was hit an miss. Some Xiaomi / Aqara sensors work, some don't. Then there is also the CN / EU server fiasco. I prefer to use Mi Home and use their automation.
