Today we are taking a closer look at the Xiaomi Wowstick electric screwdriver. This particular device has become a household tool within the Keyboard enthusiast community. Being ideal for working on custom keyboards and so much more.
The unboxing experience is great as much care was taken when thinking of this packaging but One of my bits pack had some rust. Nothing to be worried about but it does take away from the overall experience.
What's worse is that the product has a rattle, you can feel something is lose inside the device and judging by amazon reviews, it looks like this is somewhat of a common issue.
Getting past these problems, the product is good and performs well for its designed tasks. The torque is not to strong nor can you set it, what's more of a problem is that you cannot set the rotation speed. Thankfully, you can use the screwdriver in manual mode to get a proper feel for the torque and set screws down the right thread.
Overall I do like the product but there's one to many quality control issues to simply pardon Xiaomi. I will seek to return this one and get a replacement.
As alternatives, you can always buy a standard set screwdriver with bits that will be a lot more affordable but if you're looking for a more rough and tough electric screwdriver with both manageable speed and torque than have a look at the Bosch PushDrive which is around the same price point as the Xiaomi Wowstick 1F+. The disadvantage of the Bosch is that it's bigger and does not have a LED light to illuminate where you're working.

And thanks for the additional recommendations! I have a similar manual tool and would go with the bosch but I do want the led light. I guess I'll wait until there's one that's good and feature complete.

@@Tech-Zar wow thanks for sharing this, though I'm sorry for you. I almost bought it but decided to postpone the decision, now I'm sure it won't be a good buy. To be frank I think the accessories were the real enticing stuff, and I can just buy that matt and the bits I don't have separately. I'll give the bosch more thought, does it work with the smaller bits that come with the wowstick for small screws?

@@sectoid_br The Boch has a bigger connector. Will not work with the more finer bits. Think there's an adapter for it but I'm not sure.

It certainly has. Used it before, mine doesn't hold any charge right now, I am not sure if v2023 got that fixed or not. I honestly doubt.
