Nice review! Just a correction, it's not a 1" sensor but rather 1/1.31"....

Great showcase and aome nice shots! This is the kind of camera that the majority of people will be using these days, so it absolutely has a place on the channel. (But now lets get back to film)

These photos look very good. I think phones can be the best cameras for street photography because no one will ever notice you. You can be in the most official place but you will go unnoticed. Here we have lot of restrictions when it comes to actual cameras in so many public places and they will harass you a lot. With a phone you can een point directly at someone and they will just think you are taking a selfie 😅. Of course i do not like the experience and something about the phone camera processing puts me off but they are getting better.

I have been to an exhibition about Robert Capa the other day and he sneaked into an event where cameras were forbidding because people did not find the small 35mm Leica in his pocket (during a time where large and medium format was still the norm for professional photographers). It kind of reminds me of what you describe - maybe smartphone are the new sneaky way haha. In spaces where you might not get entry to with a flashy camera, the phone certainly is the best and less obstructive tool!

Its's not a 1-inch sensor, but a smaller 1/1,3 sized one.

3:42 ! That shot is super cool! Funny how phones can take amazing low light photographs these days and digital cameras still need tripods or a lot of work to look clean at night. No wonder "regular" people just use their phones for photography.

Amazing images specially the B&W ones. Phone camera’s are certainly improving and can help people produce great images. For me personally I still prefer a using a traditional camera. One the main reason is the ergonomics as I prefer being able to access the controls via buttons and dials rather than screen menu’s. The other main reason is I feel I have greater stability holding a camera than a phone. Although this Xiaomi 4T looks amazing and would be a great choice for those who like phone photography. Camera phones have certainly had effect on sales of smaller point and shoot camera’s as why would you buy one when there are phones like this available.
@ianroe10762 ай бұрын
The conventional reason has been that compact cameras still usually have larger sensors. If this phone actually uses the full 1" sensor all the time, then phones have definitely caught up.

Wonderful review. I've done quite a bit of street photography with my old Mate 20. Nowadays I mostly use my Canon EOS RP, but still love my phone. Like you said, everyone is used to seeing phones so you are basically invisible in comparison with a regular camera. I'm from Ohio but live in Nürnberg since 91. I was a soldier here before that for 3.5 years in the 1980s. But as much as I love Nürnberg, I'm terrified of getting too close to my subjects. I've been confronted several times while out shooting by people who weren't even being photographed. So I've become a little bit "gun shy" on my photo walks with my mirrorless. The phone camera has helped my alit with this anxiety and I've quite a few lovely shots. It won't be the night time monster that the PRO is, but I'm getting the regular 14T later this month for my Birthday and your review has me really excited. Thank you!

Sehr interessantes Videos. Die Smartphone Kameras werden wirklich immer besser. Mir fehlt dann allerdings immer das Gefühl eine "richtige" Kamera in der Hand zu halten. 🙂

Impressive … thanks! My iPhone 15 is always in my pocket (and gets used for “snaps”) even when I’m out with the X100V. Having that level of manual control on a smartphone is very cool. I’m always shooting B&W with my Fuji so the iPhone has become my colour compliment to the camera and has the advantage of being able to immediately apply an edit before uploading to Strava on my road bicycle rides. How about that low light “Leica” look … very nice indeed! 📷😄

Another great video Karin 😊 In answer to one of your questions I tend to use my iPhone 13 camera as a ‘notebook’ rather than using it as a ‘proper’ camera. Your night images look great (quality wise) on my iPhone screen; do they still look as good on a larger screen such as a computer monitor? My favourite image was the people on the bench at 09:39 😊

I mean... I don't take myself overly seriously no matter what gear I'm using. But, the camera that you have with you and want to use is the "best". I enjoy being able to take good/decent photos on my phone, but usually my GRIII is close at hand, and probably at least one bigger "more serious" camera as well. Ranging from my Minolta CLE to my RZ67 now. But usually closer to the CLE end of things. :) Whatever tool helps you create your art, that's the one you should use!

Great video. I do try to make my shots count on my phone - Pixel7. Using Open-camera app has helped me to eliminate HDR. Good to see some more Ruhrpott photographers! Shoutout to FUTC and that guy Jay in Dusseldorf who quit posting in English! Subbed.

As someone who uses Sigma Foveon cameras, the Huawei P20 Pro as well as Xiaomi 14t Pro bring me close to my Foveon images but with far more convenience of shooting on street with less than idea ISO.

Hopefully camera sensors on phones will be equivalent to a camera sensor. It's too bad that some manufacturers are not allowed in America. It would definitely bring some healthier competition for the phone manufacturers

Sometimes I pick my smartphone when I don't have the right focal length on my camera but it is by far not the same experience than using my M cameras which is way more fun and a whole lot better connection with the scene while pulling focus. I will never really fall in love with the process of "snapping" with a phone and will prefer TLRs, SLRs, DSLMs and rangefinder cameras at any time. Furthermore most of the time I pick my phone for a photo the battery will die soon. It is simply not made for the photo taking process. It is good for nothing special.

Do you think it will work well to shoot northern lights??
@KarinMajoka9 күн бұрын
Generally yes but the way you use it is more important than the camera. For Northern lights it’s recommended to do long exposures on a tripod with any camera you use, so it should also work with this one if you use it correctly.

Tell the folks at Leica to build a camera that looks like a camera, but also makes phone calls using Xiaomi's tech.. I might then start carrying a phone. (Hey, I'm 70 years old. Too late to change old habits. Shoot me....)

Love yah, but this blasphemy! 😂 I'd quit photography before using a phone for photography. I do photography to specifically get away from my phone and the pressures of life.
@KarinMajoka2 ай бұрын
Very valid, I get you! I also love photography for the tactile nature of it (and especially with film to get away from screens). Yet, I still find myself not having a camera with me every second of the day and for those situations the phone can be a life saver to get a shot nonetheless.
