Love your videos. I will be interested in your impressions of the 6200 when you do a video on that

WFView works great on my Icom radios. It was also supported in the most recent X6100 Firmware release.

Correct - it is an ICOM CI-V protocol depenadant. What happened is that hecne Xiegu runs linux on their radios, firmware include wfserver. As for network, do not use Wifi, use ethernet dongle, and audio - you have to set level for TX Audio under UNK slider (uknown means you havent selected USB Audio as source) to max of 20 percent. Then it will sound great. I run 100 percent remote and used WFVIEW a lot.

Hi, the monitor receivers bandwidth seemed very narrow compared to the transmitter bandwidth. This will affect the received audio as the high frequencies will be filtered out. This might have been a factor with the poor audio you demonstrated Thanks.

They definitely went cheap on build components and audio chain.

Does the x6200 have its own wireless host so you can use WF view with a laptop out in the field?

I’ve had my x6200 for two days now. I have to say it’s a great bit of kit. Quite intuitive also and I’m getting used to it fast. I’ve still to get a decent antenna rigged up I just haven’t decided what or where yet. It looks like some of the early flaws seen on the prototypes have already been fixed. Mine is on the latest May 2024 firmware so I’m guessing there will be an update very soon which hopefully will bring new features. The only issue I see at present is perhaps an under reporting on the signal meter. Other than that I’m quite happy

I don't know if the X6200 supports changing the filter skirts in digital mode. If it does, I'd try modifying the filter skirts for a wider passband...

You should try using it over the net for remote op.. Also, try some of the other codecs, it might improve the Audio some..

Since it says just on your home Wi-Fi, would 1 be able to access it from maybe work and monitor your your favorite frequency from outside of your home Wi-Fi or does it have a firewall to prevent that?

WOW.. Very Nice (too bad with the Mic. Audio) Did you Check you PC Mixer Settings..?? .. It sometimes has a Mic gain / Boost (Check Box ☑️) Perhaps it's Checked and over driving the Mic. Audio.

Nice video. To me the audio sounds rather metallic

Don't know why but I absolutely can not connect to my wifi. Radioddity can't seem to figure it out either. It connects briefly then disconnects. Any suggestions?

so... Here's the thing. Back in 2020, I "upgraded" from a very small 2 bedroom "ranch" style house to a newer 5 bedroom 2 story house. All the bedrooms except the master are upstairs, the "nursery" room I selected for my office. It took a number of years to figure out how to even get wired networking up there, but finally managed to get some fiberoptic cable run between a switch in the office and my "core" switch mounted in the basement rack, 2 levels below it. Ideally, I'd like to run my radio from my desk in the office, but that leaves me in quite a sticky situation, given that American mains outlets are wired 110v, and my Ameritron AL80b needs 220v, and that isn't even accounting for coax into the office from the basement, where it goes outside to antennas. I've been on the lookout for a networked IP solution to this problem, and it seems without spending big dollars my only options are to either setup a shack in the basement which would be less than ideal, or spend big money on equipment -- big money I don't have. Something like this gets *closer* to solving my problem...

Perfect example of WiFi usage here would be in a restricted space installation e.g. Loft Antenna, you could simply install the radio, PSU and Antenna in the loft, no need for cable runs etc or even at a remote site with a 4/5G WiFi Router.

With it being Linux-based, why on earth would they NOT have a wifi server in it? Let's be honest...it's a portable field radio. Having to utilize a separate wifi connection to connect wireless is just silly in 2024 and completely impractical in the field. One should be able to connect DIRECTLY to the radio from a laptop....been doing that with the IC-705 for a few years. The 6200 has an open OS so it's not like they'd have to invent the server...tons available and functional for free. That's very disappointing.

Great rant, but you damn well know that MOST of these are going to remain "shack queens".
@RoelandJansen7 ай бұрын
You can use a cable usb/ethernet. WiFi on the 6100 and 705 are more like a gimmick
@MentalWhiplash7 ай бұрын
@@RoelandJansen I know MANY digital mode operators that use the IC-705 wirelessly in the field...definitely as far from a gimmick as it can get. It's fully-functional and heavily adopted.
@MentalWhiplash7 ай бұрын
@@MARRANCA2 you're probably right...but it is funny that people would pick a low end, low performance Chinese radio as a shack queen. Even so, you are definitely right!

@@MentalWhiplash I have a 705 and 6100. 705, mesh networks - nightmare. Also, if 10m away, you will face issues. Not weird if you know the used chip. 61002m away == drop-out. Now in the field you are close to your 705, different story. Let's be honest, it is mediocre at best. Maybe your standards are too low.
