Xingyi Quan - Xingyi Staff - Pi Gun (Splitting Staff) - Hua Jin Online Learning Program

A lesson from the Hua Jin Online Learning Program
In this lesson I introduce the first of the Xingyi Staff's Five Elements, namely Pi Gun. It features a splitting strike which chops in a down and forward vector. There are numerous variations of Pi Gun within my line of Xingyi Quan. Here, I will present the first fundamental version of this element, namely Shang Gua Pi Gun or Upward Hooking Staff Split, which features an upward hooking action followed by a powerful splitting chop coupled with forceful, aggressive and direct footwork. In this primer video I shall cover fundamental details and standard execution of Pi Gun within my line of Hebei Xingyi Quan.

Yes, any ao bu or opposite stance posture results in a twisting of the posture. The key is san jian xiang dui or the three tips align though
