@@julioduan7130 That explains it. "Genocide" in Xinjiang was only declared by Trump's secretary of state Mike Pompeo in the last week of the administration in 2021. Subsequently Blinken said he agreed with the declaration during his congressional nomination hearing of secretary of state.

Northern Xinjiang used to be Dzungaria, named after the Dzungar Mongols. The capital city Urumqi is a Mongol word meaning Green Pasture.

@@merrick6484 that is simply not the truth. The capital of Yuan dynasty was abandoned, called Yuan Da Du, and forbidden city was built by Ming Emperor.

Beijing is a 3000 year old city. Before Yuan Mongol made it a capital, there was Jin (Jurchen), before that Liao (Khitan), before that it was a part of Northern Song and so on. During the Zhou dynasty, the first 1000BC, Beijing was called the Yan, a feudal kingdom under Zhou. It's fair to say that Beijing status as the capital today began with Khitan with each new group expanding it.
