Thanks for the video! I was about to start the replacement of the rollers and springs of the starter cluctch and I was a little bit worried but your video was very helpful.

I am having this issue with the keys in blender noise coming from I believe starter clutch, what I feel is missing from the videos here is some detail and explanation of where the noise is coming from specifically. Do I need to replace the entire starter clutch? Or just the bearing? It would be cool if you had the starter clutch apart so could it could explain a bit more of what the problem is. Thanks for the video though, you are right there is not much on youtube that explains all this.

I replaced the cam chain around the starter clutch. Which was a pain in the ass I Will say since when you do that you have to un bolt all the connecting rods and pull the crankshaft out for a second. Slip the new one over the crankshaft and re install. The pistons don’t have to be removed from the cylinders. Just fit it back into place. And torque down. But as a whole you cna get a new cam chain oem for 55$ and new rollers and springs for another 25-30. Easy fix when the motor is out. But the motor coming out was the hardest part for me.

@@dirtbikemoan2124 thank you for the reply, i will definitely do this over the winter or give it my best shot at the least lol.

So I took the task of stripping my whole bike down, powder coating every single thing I can, while keeping it oem, it all started because I had low compression and a bad piston and scored cylinder. Kept adding to the task and since I had this noise from time to time starting the bike, I decided to get the whole engine apart, replace what's bad and powder coat the engine. Anyway, I'm at the part where I should be cracking down the 10mm bolts of the clutch plates, but they rotate if I try to remove them... could it be because I'm in gear or something? I would say I'm an average Joe++ lol. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

So you’re tightening the clutch spring bolts I’m assuming and they won’t become tight? Like a stripped thread? Can you restate your problem?

I managed to get them off, I guess I had to make the clutch turn enough one way for the crankshaft to stop rotating and then I managed to break them lose. I removed the clutch disc's, the top bolts of the crankcase, and all the covers. Tomorrow I'll get the rest of the clutch housing (with the tab I need to pry out) and the bottom of the case bolts. I'm gonna re-watch part 2, but do I need to het the stator out to split the cases? I don't have the tool to pull it and couldn't get anything to thread in there ^^

It’s been a long time since I’ve removed a stator rotor on one of these. I know they are a tapered fit and have a draw key on the shaft. Remove the cover. You should be able to rotate the engine possibly and stick one of the small bolts in one of the holes behind the rotor maybe? This will keep the rotor from rotating when trying to undo the shaft bolt. I recommend and impact and whatever size socket it is. Maybe an 18mm? It’s been forever. Get it loose and take it off. Then it’s a matter of breaking the taper fit. Almost like a ball joint. Maybe tap lightly with a dead blow and it might move a little. Let me know if that helps. I’d need more information to help further assist you with it. It’s been so long 😂🫡🙏

If I had to take a guess on what that shaft bolt was. It’s probably one of these. 18mm 1.00 thread pitch 16mm 1.00 thread pitch or 15mm 1.00 thread pitch. I would try and take that bolt out of the shaft and go to the local hardware store and try and see what it is exactly and try and get a long threaded bolt of the same thread pitch and size and thread it in there and it should suck the rotor off the shaft I would think. Jus be careful I’m not sure how strong whatever that bolt seats against will be. I’d hate for you to try that and crank on it and have it push through the case behind the rotor. 👍

Lubricate the shaft and use some heat it you have to. It was a real stuck when I did mine. Maybe grab a mallet or dead blow hammer to influence too!

Are you just unbolting stuff to see what happens or do you have an actual maintenace manual?

I’m a certified technician through southeast community college in Lincoln Nebraska. I have a manual for the re assembly.

But to answer your question. Yea. I’m just unbolting stuff for now. The key is to not have it apart for long. Made this so the average joe could understand it. 👍

What was total amount of time that it took you to complete this job?
@dirtbikemoan21242 жыл бұрын
By far taking the engine out took the longest. I’m a smaller dude. But maybe 2-3 nights after work of tearing down and organizing. And then when you find your problem. Order stuff. And replace. Roughly took me 10-14 days. But easily can be done within the same day if you start early and have good tools.
