When going fast,,, the sensor only sees a blur. It can't lock on to that. That's why it works when you go slow.

I think you need to hover it where you want it, and then the position hold will keep it there, adjusting any drift from wind. I don't think it's intended to hold position when it's moving forward through controller input.

I concur with that. I think that its position hold ability is meant for new fliers learning to use the controls.

Proprietary batts can be cracked or cut open. Remove the internal batt. Go to a cell repair shop and match up the size with a generic. You may be able to replace it with a higher MAH rating. I've done this with cell batts so it will work here too. Just use scotch tape or super glue to stick the batt shell back together

I think its the wind that maybe do that gliding away. I mean it seems like when you go against the wind, it has no problem breaking and hover, but not the other way around.

Hi Quadcopter 101. If I am correct, to activate the auto takeoff you need to start the rotors first. Try than then see if auto takeoff works. Regards

optical sensor is not made to stop the quad and never will it will hold position after you hold it in a position desired it's not a gps of course. if you stop it it will try and hold. contrast is what it uses but takes time to find it. if you fly it knowing this much better result.

Bought this quad and it seems to be a good quad! Cant help but notice after about 5 to 8 mins flying the camera or something gets hot and it drops fpv.

I hope this is useful info for someone. The camera was getting very hot and the picture would break up after 3/4 minutes. It would record AVI files which were corrupted and wouldn't play. The camera has a switch labelled CE/FC which I assume means Europe/US or 25mW/200mW. I switched to CE and the camera now only gets warm. Some SD cards which are sold as Class 10 aren't and it seems that I had one of those. Replacing with a proper Class 10 means that I now get good AVI files. The camera angle can be adjusted if you remove the camera from the quad.

I would consider this a good trainer. Long flight time, position and altitude hold. Prop guards. Someone can more easily learn head in flight and coordinated turns, then add in throttle later. Hardship is not rigor! And at less than $150, it's a low price for a nice feature set.

Well, I'll agree that it does fly well. Other than that, I would say that the manure in the video wasn't only on the field. Proprietary battery (trying to make it look like a DJI LED system), a position hold that doesn't work (sort of like that quad you reviewed that was supposed to have obstacle avoidance that didn't work either), the 720P camera is "not amazing" and the video on the provided monitor is pretty poor .. and not all that much better in your goggles. So, I don't think it's worth the cost. You could buy a Bugs 3 for a lot less, and have a better flying quad (and it's TX tells you when the battery is low so that it doesn't land in a bad spot .. like a lake .. or when its getting out of range). I think some of the established manufacturers, like WLToys and Syma are producing a lot of "uninspiring new offerings". This happens in the industry when you've been a leader for a while, and you get too comfortable as "lead dog" ... sooner or later a competitor comes out with a product that blows yours away. Happens in many industries. BTW, I've seen other reviews of this one, so there were really no surprises for me. I don't think you read the instructions before filming this video. Auto take off works only when you have the rotors running. You have to hold the button for 2 seconds before it takes off. Same with auto landing. The auto position hold only works below certain speeds due to motion blur. You're supposed to manually slow the quad, then it will hold position.

Looks like you got a dud, other videos i've seen showed auto take off and landing working... and didn't have that weird deal were it keeps going after you let off the sticks. and the video was really decent from the camera, not sure about the picture from the fpv

Not really. But notice the little box viewer that I made myself out of cheap foam board (from the local Dollar Tree store). If you can cut out most light and leave a small view slit on the front, the screen can be seen much more easily in bright daylight.

At some point I expect this tech to appear both on cheaper drones and possibly in combination with basic GPS on more expensive ones. Nice enough for what it is but the 5.8 FPV and the OS system bumps the price up :(

I bought one XK x300 from My Toys store in Dubai put I have problem with it It's can not flay !!! Only the front side go up 5 cm that's all Can you pleas tell what's wrong with it ? Is it adjusting issue or sitting ? Pleas help with this problem

You likely misinstalled the propellers. If misinstalled, some may blow air upwards instead of down, causing flipping or non takeoff of the quadcopter. Take a close look at the following picture. Notice that there are two different shapes, and also notice which arm each shape is installed. I would recommend getting something smaller, lighter, cheaper, and safer than the two that you listed. No matter what quadcopter that you get, you will be crashing, crashing hard, and crashing often. It's unavoidable as you learn the hard way what "not" to do with your new quadcopter. A beginner would likely and quickly break either of the two that you listed because of their large size and mass (they'll hit hard in a crash). I always recommend the Syma X5C for new fliers, due to its excellent stability, durability, and ease of flying. And it even has a camera too. Use it to learn the basics of flight with. Let this cheap quadcopter take the inevitable crashes and bangs of a beginner flier. And if you break it, every part on it is cheap, widely available, and easily replaceable. The quad will stop itself fairly well over high contrast ground like paint stripes on a parking lot, or when it passes over my landing pad, but it does need to have enough contrast to be able to "see" the ground and know how to hold the position. I can say from experience that you really don't want to make it try to hover over snow. Watching it "freak out" with no possibility of contrast on the ground was definitely funny, but you could easily lose the quad to a crash in the snow and that's not good for the electronics since the motors are actually completely open and exposed to the air. I'm not sure why yours didn't auto take off and land, though. I do have to hold the button for a couple of seconds to make it work, so maybe you just didn't press it long enough...? That said, I gave my 11 and 17-year-old daughters a 30 second training class with the basics of the controls (neither of them had ever flown any type of RC vehicle) and they had absolutely no trouble flying this X300 at all. The battery lasted long enough for each of them to get in about 7 or 8 minutes of flight time (doing flips appears to significantly reduce the time, by the way) and the youngest made a nearly perfect manual landing on the center of the landing pad on her very first flight, so I highly recommend it for beginners!

I also want to say that having to use the proprietary battery is somewhat annoying since you can't just toss any 'standard' battery in there, but the battery life is excellent and spare batteries are available from eBay and a few online shops like HobbyWow (which also has replacement rotors, gears, motors, and body shells).
