Fantasia will always be my favorite but I believe what Simon was trying to say is she over did it and she should have simplified it. It was have been just as great, even better. I doubt racism has anyting to do with who got voted for .I don't know anything about american idol, I was just watching a few on youtube past few hours. I came here because I randomly clicked on a fantasia link. She's beautiful singer, even though I don't know music at all. I came here and I see all of the fighting and disagreement among the people who DO follow the show. Personally, I think you people aren't seeing the forest through the trees. Fantasia can sing. That's all that matters. To my ears she's indistinguishable from any famous singer. This show shouldn't stop someone like her from doing her craft. That's the bottom line. If she's good and the show's voters ignore it, that's their fault.

completely agree. her kind of voice used to be celebrated until all these britney-barbie types came along and suddenly the "acceptable standard" for musical talent became some nasally, pitchy, flat voice with little true emotion and soul. fantasia's kind of voice was celebrated in Aretha and Patti's day - i appreciate clean singing as well but you're completely right - this is SOUL.

yeah... people just don't get Fantasia. And thats cool, but don't cut her down. Shes REALLY not a recording artist though. I've heard some of the crap they've put her voice to on albums.. and it really sucks hard. But when shes been on Broadway or doing ANY other live performance? INCREDIBLE! I think the album media just loses her energy in the translation or something. And her energy is .... FANTASTIC. Hence her name... Her mom apparently resaw this or something.
