This isn't just about the genetic aggression of the animal but rather the way that it acts when it does attack, this is a breed that will bite and hold on with very powerful jaws where other breeds will bite and retreat. A jack russel bites a child it will do far less physical damage and harm, not just because its a small dog but because it will let go rather than clamp down and wrestle its prey.

Are you this uneducated? Most terriers we’re actually bred for hunting, and Killing, ragging and not releasing til their prey was dead. American bulldogs were bred in the mid 1990s to be a family companion, their genetics are way better than most other dogs, so the only reason for them to be acting this way, is people unethically breeding them to cause neurological problems. OR people being stupid raising their dog incorrectly making it this way. Both reasons are due to HUMANS not the dog. Banning this breed will do nothing but cause the educated, bad owners to move on to the next breed. Til you hold the actual people responsible for their actions. But I guess you’ll be crying in the next 10 years that canes, gsd, Malis, dobers, kangals, Akitas, husky, even labs will be killing children at the same rate. Open your eyes. They did this in the past, blamed the dobers. Blamed the rotties. Now it’s the bullys turn, you seriously think this does anything? Like seriously? They’re putting a child’s plaster on a hatchet wound.

Yeah, doggy people always say this as another child gets munched. The same arguments apply as in gun control. I've course they will end up turning one day because they have been taught to take physical action if they don't like something. I've got a pup that looks ever so slightly like an XL but not the same size at all and she's brilliant because I don't want a breeding machine I wanted a loving pet that's part of the family! If any dog can be dangerous, then why are thugs and drug dealers specifically seeking out this "misunderstood" breed? It's obvious why we're having this conversation, some dog breeds are inherently more dangerous than others. The Bully XL breed has only been in the UK since around 2018, and dogs are more likely to become aggressive as they age. There's already a storm happening.

The Xl Bully is a mixed breed, inwhich they have pit bull and American bulldog put in. The temperament of the American bulldog is supposed to calm the pit bull nature down. But there are 2 problems. 1 the over mixing of breeds and therefore temperaments of dogs that wouldn't normally be, and 2 the irresponsible people who take on dogs and don't either research the breed they are looking at, and don't train or put the effort in with the animal. For example a British bulldog is quite lazy and doesn't need that much exercise, or a border collie / German shepard type dogs that are working dogs and need copious amounts of exercise or they become frustrated and agitated. What happens with a human that is frustrated? They can snap at people, but you can reason (sometimes) with human not so much with a dog. Stricter rules on breeding and owning a dog would go a long way to rectifying it.

Well any dog can. It’s just pomeranians do a lot less damage. Some breeds do have more tendency to aggression, but tbh I truly don’t think bully’s are particularly naturally aggressive dogs. What’s happening to this country? In the 1970’s, my mum ran an RSPCA home. Part of her job was to humanely euthanise animals at the request of the police. So I happen to know for a fact that if a dog attacked a human (adult or child) they were euthanised because it was often my mother who had to do it. They were no ifs or buts, no deep analysis of the dog’s psyche, no hand-wringing. If it had attacked a human, it was dangerous and destroyed!

These dogs were bred to be aggressive and destructive. Just as you expect a retriever to love chasing and bringing back balls, and you expect a cocker spaniel to chase through the undergrowth, and you expect a terrier to be independent and to disappear down burrows, you should expect a dog bred for fighting to want to fight and to be easily provoked to do so.

No I’m sorry, this is a load of tripe. Regardless of the fact that these dogs ARE genetically predisposed towards aggression, the argument of “it’s not the dog, it’s the owner” is such a moot point. That’s the case with all dogs, if a cocker spaniel - or even a German Shepard were to snap and attack someone, it’s a much lower risk than one of these huge animals.
@Gofindyourselves
@Gofindyourselves Жыл бұрын
The reason why German shepherds or cocker spaniels are less likely to bite someone is because they don’t attract chavy owners or wanna be gangsters. So it is entirely the owners faults, pitbulls placed 4th as the most gentle of dog breeds by the American temperament test society, so how can a dog with a great temperament equal to a golden retriever be attacking people? It don’t make sense, it’s obviously the types of people buying and raising these dogs.

What do you get if you cross an American pit bull, am American bulldog, an English bulldog and an American Staffordshire terrier? An XL bully! Where I don't agree with the behaviourist on this is that in the scenario where a dog is mistreated or not correctly trained and the dog becomes aggressive then you don't want massive, strong dogs with huge jaws and powerful bites being involved. As much as the owner is at fault, just like it's a person that fires the gun, the dog involved affects the outcome. We don't allow machine guns for sale, despite the fact that most people would never use one to harm someone, we look at what happens if a machine gun was in the wrong hands. With dogs it should be the same. A bully XL dog should not be freely available for the sake of the dogs as much as the public.

My mum has had very high vet bills from the damage he did to a dog. She stopped taking him out after that incident. She spoke to her vets about it and she said 98% of staffs turn. They are the perfect family dog but cant be trusted not to turn. Recently he killed a cat. Mum had to reinforce the garden fence because there are 2 german shepherds next door. If he got through l, there would be a bloodbath. So its not always the owners fault. Yes lots teach thrm to hang off trees n strengthen their lock jaw which is really stupid. Why cant people put a muzzle on the dogs? I have a rescue. Had him just over a year. @@dilligaf73 When a dog bites down on something and holds on, refusing to let go, this is a result of mental tenacity rather than a physical mechanism. These dogs may engage in a game of tug and decide the prize is so great they don't want to give it up. A dog determined to hang onto the tugger will clamp down with their jaws but it is muscular effort and determination that keep the mouth shut, rather than a true lock. These dogs will typically growl as they tug. In order to get a better purchase, they'll also sink backward on their haunches, using all their body weight to pull backward. The dog often pulls rhythmically, shifting their weight to-and-fro, to try and get a better purchase on pulling. The dog often concentrates quite hard, which often means they stop wagging and their tail goes straight. During a full-on game of tug, the dog may well be caught up in the moment. Never try and pry the dog's jaws open as this will only make the dog more competitive and determined to hold on. I stand with the idea that if you get rid of the foundational problem then you'll diminish the fatalities/ injuries in the long run which seems to be the case here. Like many people have mentioned before me, a lot of the demographic who buy this breed do so with the intent of not properly training it and using the dog more as an asset which is a shame for the breed itself.

@@Chambers36TheEnter it still doesn't justify keeping such animals as pets. I wouldn't want one living next door to my kids and animals.

@SezHollywood Here here, I'm sick of these people who make excuses for these animals with killer potential, purely on the basis of the human element, you could say the same about a bear or a big cat in that case! They're not entirely wrong but if people can't be trusted to harness the power, nobody should own one. Destroy them all!

Only decent response i believe you should understand the breed match it to your lifestyle and weigh up the pro n cons because owning a dog is a big responsibility and alot of these owners are first time owners (inexperienced) and young guys walking them and the dog is more intelligent 🤔

I absolutely agree! There is no such thing as a bad dog only bad owners. If we're going to ban a breed because of one dog, why not ban cars? More people get killed by cars. This is just a knee jerk reaction to placate the public because of one stupid owner.

It's not just one dog. The highest number of incidents and deaths involving dogs have been bullies. Whether it's the dogs or the owners is irrelevant anyway. People are getting attacked and kids are getting killed. Either way they should be banned.

I get really annoyed when people say "it's not the dog, it's the owner". Yes, the owner is at fault but there are certain breeds that are bred to be aggressive and that are prone to unprovoked attacks. And let's be honest: if a chihuahua attacks you, yes you will get bitten but it should be very easy to stop that attack and severe injuries and death is an incredibly remote possibility; but if a bully xl attacks you, being bitten is the thin end of the wedge - severe injuries and death are very likely. So stop telling me that it's not the dog.

‘Need to be aggressive’. That is 90 percent of the problem though. They might be more inclined to this behaviour but any dog can be abused and traumatised. 90 percent or more of the time these dogs attack I’ll bet it’s the owner or people provoking the dog. This isn’t normal behaviour for any dog, aggressive or not. Yes, ban them if they are dangerous. I won’t argue with that approach if it saves lives. I’m just saying the real problem is the humans

It's the owners. My neighbour has a dog like that program called lassie ..most vicious dog in the world in my eyes this dog was a killer. It killed 3 cats and about 20 birds. I know a badger was killed by it and I witnessed a guide dog get attacked by this dog. It's the most disturbing incident I have ever seen in my life. It's the owners ....

Stop distracting from the issue. For this problem to have returned indicates the first fix wasn't strong enough. Perhaps we should nab them in pairs and swap the owners, so they get to experience life on the receiving end.
