I bought the G10 Aus 10 XL Espada not because I couldn't afford the S35vn , but because in cold weather the G10 won't "cold burn" my hand like the polished aluminum bolsters would. I carry my XL Espada every day along with my Glock 26. Little guns and big knives . I plan on buying the S35vn version in the near future. Having two of a good thing is never a bad thing. P.S.- My S35vn Espada xl is being delivered 04/01/2024 ....5 months after I wrote this. I carry my Aus 10 Espada xl every day. I can very honestly say I've never had even 1 nanosecond of " buyer's remorse" with my knife , and am eager to receive my S35vn version. Once again....Two of a good thing is never a bad thing.

The one main problem with Cold Steel is this, which frigging knife to carry, I mean they're all so bloody awesome that you become spoilt for choice! I have so many great CS knives now that it breaks my heart to take one above all the rest, it's impractical to take all without my trousers falling around my ankles from the sheer weight and bulk. I really want the custom XL Espada now, I have a large version which is great, but do I take that over my CS 4Max or SR1 Tanto, what about my custom Pendelton in san-mai 3, my Master Tanto san-mai 3 vg10, Tiger Claw Karambit fixed or folder? Jesus, what a dilemma CS leave us poor CS worshipers in!! :))

I have only Cold Steel's knives in my collection, they are the Best in price and quality. My new folder that I'm using most of the time now is the fantastic blued Frenzy. @@greykain8162 always worth it to order cold steel, cant blame you tho. The launch 8 looks great! I the the insane piercing of the ti lite, but for that you sacrifice belly. Although I havnt found much I havnt been able to do with it. Is it easier to cut an apple when your knife has alot of belly? Yes, but it is still doable with the ti lite blade shape. Everything is a trade off. Love the knife to death

I love the Spanish Navaja I carry the the asu8 xl espada with the polishing g10 especially like to pare it with a pocket pistol and I usually put a 5 1/2 talwar with my 4 in s&w 686

A question starting at -5:43 into the video. The position of your thumb with that particular grip you have looks like the thumb release of the blade lock could be pressed resulting in the blade closing on your fingers. It seems that could be a likely scenario in a chaotic situation. Is that possible? Has that ever happened to someone else before?

The thumb release on this knife is VERY stiff. As in, thumb callous level of stiff. Not impossible, but you REALLY have to want to close it for there to be any danger in that regard, and if your palm is on the thumb release there's no way it's coming loose on you.

Badass knives for Badass men (and Women)... I absolutely love all of Cold Steel's folders. Recon 1 and Voyager tanto are beautiful, but I'll probably get a "large" rather than an XL Espada one day (I'm not a huge guy so having a 14 inch knife is a bit overkill for me)...

I have the XL G10 Espada and the Large Espada in the shiny version. Love the Large Model. The XL is fun but it's too big to regularly carry while the Large Espada actually fit in a normal pocket without too much problem while still being a huge folding knife and it's frickin beautiful with the polished blade and bolsters. 😁

Thanks again for the best strong knifes I have put some of the cold steel knifes I have bought from blade HQ to the test awesome. I bought a 6 in Luzon pro lite tie light 4 pocket Bushman new coming in mail is the affordable lite sr1 thanks again. I pryed out garage truck lights with my little 3/1/2 pro lite didn't even brake the tip other knifes snap there tip really easy. Cold steel forever .

I have the large Espada with the polished aluminum bolsters. I bought it 7 or 8 years ago. The only thing I would change is the bolster metal. The polished aluminum is soft and scratches like crazy. It’s so beautiful that I’ve never used or carried it because even just wiping it causes it to be scratched. If the metal were not so soft like polished or brushed stainless, I think it would be better. I’m thinking of buying a second fancy Espada just to carry that I I don’t care if it gets beat up. It’s the perfect knife otherwise. I only carry Cold Steel knives. They’re the best all around knives.

Howzit, try this. Keep the blade half way open(like an L Shape) for a couple days. It should help to break in the lock. If you could also disassemble the knife, clean all metal parts with rubbing alcohol and lube/oil the pivot screw and lock parts, it will help a lot with everything. Smooth action in opening and closing of the blade 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Also, if you do decide to take it apart, it helps to take pictures when disassembling the knife. And there are two Teflon and two Phosphorus Bronze washers that you need to be careful and not loose them. They are located between the scale and blade(Pivot Screw). Clean them with rubbing alcohol and lube them before you put the knife back together again.

This knife is the real deal and very effective for what it was created for. I carry mine constantly and doesn’t even cause an issues at all. I also love the feeling of self defense peace of mind it gives when i carry it. In the event i either didnt have my firearm on me or i was unable to have my pistol atm then I know i am fully capable of protecting me and my family. With such an outstanding looking folder... i think just the very appearance of pulling it out in the event i had to that the sight alone should deter 95% of issues lol

I would love to own one of these but the price is way to steep....are you guys working on a budget version of this blade? like a larger voyager knife? I have the XL voyager and I love it, but Id really like one with a larger blade. I work in an elementary school where my children also attend and cannot carry a firearm but I would love to be able to carry a larger blade just in case. Is there anything like that in the works, something that wont sacrifice the tri ad lock or the thickness of blade steel but wont come with a several hundred dollar price tag....something in the 100-150 range perhaps?

I think the rajha 2 has the best handle,it allows u to pull and deploy it at a very comfortable and security grip immediately,but not fancy like the espada.I can pull the rajha 2 and thrust at almost the same time like an old school revolver shooter.But the rajha 2 doesn't have a clip tip.Looking for a combination handle with a espada and rajah 1,or a scale down espada's blade on a rajha 2.

You can modify the blade of your rajah and making it clip point. Very easy to do on a low speed grinder. That way you combine the piercing capability of a bowie with the cutting power of a kopis.

Was the switch from CTS-XHP to AUS-10 due to cost?

Yes. Very expensive steel but also one of the best for keeping an edge. CTS XHP version sells for as high as $400. However, they switch steel a lot. Mainly due to cost. Also make quite a few knives with S35VN which is a comfortable middle ground as far as cost and edge retention between CTS and AUS.
