OKAY SO FIRST OFF BEFORE I EXPLAIN EVERYTHING, I WANTED TO SAY THIS LITERALLY TOOK ME 5 DAYS TO FILM LDKFJLDKSJF Story/Explanation: She goes to a party in the prologue and stands there, looking at the amount of people are there. She starts to freak out because she has social anxiety, and the people in the party "turn around" and start insulting her. Well, not actually, because that's all in her head. She thinks that everyone hates her and judges her from what she wears, etc. In the beginning of the music video, there are memories that are basically like "ghosts" representing her loneliness and sort of foreshadowing. She is in a group of friends but is the outcast, which is why I made her black and white. The girl walking down the hall is the representation of society's standards, which expect you to be a perfect porcelain doll. A tear runs down her face showing that she is putting on a fake smile and is really crying inside. It pans over a group of barbie dolls and shows the "misfit" (Rachel). She poses in the mirror, smiling, but the mirror reflects her crying and pain. The list with everything on how to be accepted starts burning, and Rachel sits in the flames because she's burning the social norms. The rain scene shows how sad she is inside, how she thinks she isnt good enough, and it shows her unluckiness. She loses her parasol and runs to cry because everything is bottled up inside of her. After that, she walks up to her "friends" that ignore her, leaving her broken and sad. When she looks into a mirror, she sees this ugly girl when she really isn't, and she drops the mirror and breaks it. While she's in the fire, the chains are holding her, in her mind. The fire is in her mind, and she's trapped in her own mind and it shows a ghostly barbie doll laughing at her pain and suffering and isn't helping. She closes her eyes in "defeat" and "acceptance" but the hand that comes in brings her back to reality. She's standing at the dock, fed up with everything, locked in her mind, when her friend comes and saves her from her own attempt to escape her mind. It flashes memories, to show that she does have amazing friends. She walks down the hall, with her ideal self flashing in black and white, like that is who she wants to be. Her friend explains to her that she's worth it and that people care for her, and she breaks the chains that are holding her down and escapes from the "hell hole" of her mind, where she realizes that she isn't alone, that she is wanted, and is accepted for who she is. She goes back to the party and in reality, people are jealous of her, asking how she is so perfect, and then she hears all of their compliments, and finally feels proud to be herself. WOWO OK THAT TOOK FOREVER TO WRITE UMMM HOPE THIS HELPS EXPLAIN THE STORYLINE

I can definitely relate to this but I wasn't in the main characters perspective. I was in a group of like the most popular kids in school and there was the girl ( like Rachel in this story) who was sort of bullied and avoided. She wasn't in our group, she had a few friends but after watching this, makes me wish I tried being her friend. 😭

moral of the story: dont change yourself just because others want you to. if you are in a friend group where they make jokes about you that make you sad then maybe they are not the right friends for you :) just remember everyone to love yourself the way you are and dont let others change you to what they want you to be, because it aint their dang decision its yours, you can decide who you want to be.
