XG all the way. Buy once cry once. Then cry again when the technology improves and the price drops.

I like that - 'buy once cry once'! They're all brilliant thermals for the price and if you're only interested in discovering what's in the field in front of you the XM is a winner. But the thing that doesn't come across in the video was the difference in the size of the viewfinder. The 1024 HD screen on the XG takes in into another league.

Love this test! Would love to see a similar test of the Axions 2 vs the equivalent AGM Taipan or Fusion and ATNs. Keep up the good work

Very nice test and very helpful for me. I think that Xm30f will be enough for me to identify wild boars. Of course the other two are so much better, but the price is high for my budget.

@Thomas Jacks Limited thank you very much for these videos about the comparison of the three Pulsar Axions. I've watched your whole series and I've watched a lot of other channel's videos, and unfortunately there's something that I miss in all of them. I'm a hunter, and I'm tremendous interested in stealth. So I've some questions: 1.) Stealth/Visibility: I don't see an eyecup on the Axions. How large is the distance between the ocular and the eye when using it and how much will your face get illuminated by the display at night? 2.) Stealth/Noise: How much noise do the buttons make? Is there a "click" everytime I press a button? 3.) Stealth/Noise: How much noise does the Axion itself make when running? Is there a cognizable buzzing from the cpu for example? 4.) Usability: At night I'd always want to use "red monochrome" to let my eyes hold their "natural night vision" as much as possible. When turning the Axion off and then on again, will it be in the last mode that I've used or will I always have to open the menu and change the colour from "white hot" to "red monochrome" first? 5.) Usability: When turning the Axion on, how long does it take till it's ready and I get my image? I'd really appreciate if you can help me out. Maybe it's stuff for an extra video - as I said, I did not find any of the information in other channels videos yet.

Good afternoon. Thank you for watching, and thanks for your questions and feedback. Please see below the answers to your questions, do let us know if there’s anything else we can help with: 1: The XM30F has a softer eyecup, which can be folded back on itself if required. The eye relief is 5mm on this model. The Axion 2 models (XQ35/LRF XQ35/XG35/LRF XG35) have a fixed eyepiece with 4mm eye relief. Light spillage is minimal with the devices, but we would recommend using the ‘Display Off’ mode whilst not in use to reduce the chance of any light spillage. 2: All buttons on the device are totally silent, as is the focus/dioptre correction. 3: There is no audible sound from the Axion series at all, with the exception of the shutter when the device is calibrating. The device has three calibration modes: Automatic, Semi-Automatic, and Manual - and the shutter will only be active in the Auto/Semi-Auto models. Manual calibration can be performed by using the lens cap if you wish to maintain total silence, although the noise from the shutter operation is minimal. 4: The device would come back on in the colour palette used prior to power-off. 5: The start-up time of the Axions is advertised as sub 5 seconds - but, from experience, this is normally around 3.5 seconds. Start-up time from the Display Off mode is virtually instantaneous. Hope this helps! Give us a shout if you need anything else.

Brilliant video thank you for this info I have a xm22 key currently would you recommend the buy once cry once for the xg35 😩
@thomasjacksltd2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you're using your XM22 Key for and whether it performs well enough. The XG will be a significant upgrade for you: You'll really notice the improved image (even with some zoom), and the bigger view finder. Essentially -if you want to up your detection range, or your ability to identify animals further away, or you'd like to record some of your thermal images I'd recommend getting in touch with your local stockist to check they've an XG sample for your to try, so you can compare the difference for yourself.... otherwise, Pulsar will be at the Yorkshire Shooting Show (24/25 Sept) with the full range to try.

Thank you for these videos. Very useful. I know that many bird enthusiasts (like me) would greatly benefit from a similar comparison video, testing how easy it is to detect smaller animals at different distances. Small garden birds, owls roosting in the trees etc.
@thomasjacksltd Жыл бұрын
There's a MEGA test of the Pulsar Mergers I'm publishing VERY SOON showing birds roosting in trees at 1.4km! (watch it all the way to the end for that). In the meantime have you see this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJCnhZSGqbyiqJosi=HSA0V7l5Byc6t6Vr

@@thomasjacksltd thank you for your reply! Yes, I watched that video and a few others. While they are very interesting and useful, what interests me the most at the moment is how the bird-spotting capabilities compare when the distance increases. I understand that the more pixels and more sensitivity, the smaller subjects you can see from a farther distance. But to compare where the practical limits are for each of these models is what I want to do. Really eager to get one, but I don't want to pay too much extra if a cheaper model does the job. The most important thing for most birders is to find the bird rather than identifying the species, I suppose.

I've a few other MEGA test comparison videos in the pipeline - I think you'll appreciate the next two. And if you've an idea for a test you'd like to see, let me know and I'll see what I can do.@@eerofi

@@thomasjacksltd thank you! I am following the channel, eager to see new content. I know it is tricky to make comparison videos with birds because they rarely are where you want them to be.

It's likely to be one of two things: a) The lens diopter. Here's how to sort that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHWkZoiBhqmIf80si=puloH5lkfPs_B359 b) Your calibration setting. Here is how to sort that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3PamqOEhLCXnKssi=1Qp1u82Ml9urmKr0

I've had the XQ35 for nearly a week now and was wondering how much better the XG35 is. With regard to smaller animals like badgers or foxes I would wish for more detail and the XG35 should offer that from what I see in your test. The question though remains whether the extra amount of detail is worth another 800 €? It probably depends on how important that additional detail is to what you do. Thanks for sharing the videos.
@thomasjacksltd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, the smaller pixels on the XG35 would show more detail, as to whether it is worth the extra €800.00 only you can answer that. If you send us an email at social@thomasjacks.co.uk I can send you two videos comparing the XQ35 and XG35 filming some ducks & lapwings.

You're welcome. We did 4 separate tests with different users in mind: Not everyone needs to see at long range, some people are spotting for deer or people, others for foxes and rabbits. If there's another side-by-side comparison you'd like us to consider just let us know here.

All these do a decent job with free line of sight. Problem is when animals are behind trees etc. Then they start to show differences. This also applies very much so between brands.

I've just repeated the test for the Pulsar Mergers and changed how I've filmed it to be more representative of a real-life scenario, while still providing a useful benchmark for the different specs. The film should be out soon, so watch this space (or subscribe!)

Very useful comparison thank you. I currently have an Axion Key XM22 and am taking the plunge purchasing (on back order) the XG35 which I’m expecting will be a significant upgrade. Is the model in stock or soon to be in stock with all dealers? Hoping to take a look through it at the Game Fair on Sat. Thanks.
@thomasjacksltd2 жыл бұрын
There will be two XG35's on the Pulsar stand at the Game Fair for anyone to have a look through (along with the other Axion in the range to compare with). And some of the dealers at the Game Fair will have a few in stock at the event... if you're quick!

is there anyway to hack these to be able to mount them in a difficult to reach spot and control them remotely ? I Get they wont come from the factory like this, but is there anyone/company etc who could make mods like that ?
@thomasjacksltd2 жыл бұрын
Pulsar do a range of mounts - Tree Mount, Window Mount, C-Clamp (www.thomasjacks.co.uk/pulsar/accessories.asp), you could then control it using the Stream Vision 2 app.

@thomasjacksltd2 жыл бұрын
It does, as do all the Axions. But there's a really good dioptre adjustment so if, like me, you just find it easier to remove your glasses that's an option too. Here's our one minute guide on the dioptre control if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHWkZoiBhqmIf80
