This is the best oil change video for the Xmax 300 I've seen so far. It's so nice to watch a video that completely focuses on the subject at hand rather that forcing viewers to listen to pointless blather because the videographer is in love with the sound of their own voice. Thank you for keeping it simple and to the point.

Bom video e bem explicado, simples e direto.

Vamos ver!

Great video and very clear on how to do the oil change. My 5,000 km is due soon and I recently just purchased the same Teng torque wrench. Thank you.

The wrench works great! Just make sure you get at least one back "click" before tightning the bolt.

I had trouble resetting the 'serv - oil' indicator & the oil tripmeter. I did it several times before I got it right. The instructions seem all correct. Press the Trip/Info button on the handlebar to the left to scroll to the oil tripmeter. Press and hold the button to the left again for a few seconds until the oil tripmeter starts flashing. And press and hold it for 15 seconds to reset. But I think the issue is I had to be pretty well exactly 15 seconds. Eventually, when the tripmeter was flashing, I started holding and counting the number off flashes to get it right. First time I held for 12 flashes. No good. Then 13, 14, and then 15 flashes of the 'oil' - voila, it reset. Hope that helps.

Nice video, straight and to the point. If I had a XMax Scooter for sure I'd be able to do this oil change at home. The cartridge filter looks like a little bit of a pain to keep centered as the cover goes on. Is that self-centering as it seats inside the housing? I think the XMax 300 launched in the USA back in 2018/2019 or so. Yamaha USA shows it's available for 2020/2021 too. I think it's just about sold everywhere in the world now, so this will be a very useful video to many people. Did the drain plug require a copper or aluminum crush washer? Did Miguel the Cat visit you while you were out working in the garage? LOL Cheers! Mike & Melly
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
Miguel the cat couldn't care less about motorcycle maintenance!! The cartridge filter is self centering, there's a tab on the cover that centers it. It's quite straight forward. Great hearing from you two!! 🇵🇹🇺🇲

Excellent video alex, thank you very much. I have a question, I put my xmax 10W40 semi synthetic motor oil MA2, is there a problem that the motor for scooter that is MB does not put, I also want to know if I can put 100% synthetic oil? Greeting
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
The MA2 is fine for your scooter. You can use both MA or MB oil types. Motorcycles with wet clutch (so not the Xmax) can only use MA oils. And yes, you can use 100% synthetic oil with absolutely no issue! Ride safe!
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
I've been told that running Castrol's 10W40 Racing 100% synthetic oil results in zero oil consumption. I will test it in the future.

@bikesmith Жыл бұрын

have you noticed any oil consumption?? i just got one used 2nd hand (1600km on the clock when i bought it) and i immediately changed oil, right now at 2900km the oil is a little bit under the maximum level (by 3mm)...
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is normal. After about 5k km it won't use that much oil. Mine has 20k and the oil level still drops a bit. It varies with oil and riding style.

have you noticed any oil consumption on your xmax 300??
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
Yes, all Xmax 300 use a bit of oil, it is normal. You notice that more with some 100% synthetic oils. I've been told that with Castrol Racing 10W40 100% synthetic oil it hardly uses any oil at all. I'll test this on my next oil change.
@davidezhang64413 жыл бұрын
@@bikesmith oh okay... i just changed scooter and my "old" 1 year old beverly 300 which i did 20000km never burned a single drop of oil... i'm currently running on motul 5000 10w40 (same oil that i used on the beverly)... have you had to top up the oil between the services? my scooter has 3400km, got it when it had 1600km (2nd hand, but still in yamaha warranty) and i changed oil and filter just for safety and right now it's showing 3/4 of oil level... what's yours oil level after 5000km? (if you don't have to top up of course) my main fear is when the scooter gets older and start running like a 2 stroke...
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
Using 100% synthetic oil, I'd say it uses about 1/4 of the oil level. Again, with semi synthetic oil it hardly uses any. Don't worry too much about it! These blue core motors are bullet proof .

Hi Alex, how are you? it's me again. Could you help me with these issues? What can I do to improve the brakes? I already put sintered pads on it, but I feel like I have to tighten the lever a lot to be able to brake well. Also what tires do you recommend me to put on them, I'm seeing the pirelli and you brigestone, but I still haven't decided. Regarding the suspension, this bike is a bit tough, what do you recommend I do to the fork and the rear shock absorbers?
@bikesmith3 жыл бұрын
Hi. If you haven't already, change the brake fluid and bleed the brakes. That makes a HUGE difference. Oh, and give it some time for the new brake pads properly bed in. Mine (I'm using EBC HH Scooter sintered pads) took the best part of 300 miles or so to bed in. The front forks will benefit from new oil (video coming). The rear shocks... you're kind of stuck with it. Have you tried softening them by using less pre load? Again, they will get softer with time. I'm riding on Michelin's city grip , no complaints there. I've head the Dunlop's scootsmart are comfortable but haven't tried them myself.
@luiscarlosredondoaguirre43453 жыл бұрын
@@bikesmith Hello Alex, thank you very much for your advice, soon I have to change the tires, I will put Pirelli, they will also change the brake fluid, and I am waiting for the video of the fork to see how it changes? it's hard? ever heard of the YSS fork kit? that brings the spring and different seals ... thanks, greetings ...
