Want to know why? Because it's the same basic chord progression. This same chord progression can be seen all over throughout pop music and hip hop. I'm pretty sure it's 1-3-5-2 altho I'd have to go upstairs to my piano to check. Just get the base line in your song, though, and listen to songs like Beautiful (Akon), Apologize (OneRepublic), or Love Drunk (Boys Like Girls). There are tons of other songs that use the same pattern.
