He says in the video at about 1:00, the asterisk lets the xml document being validated have 0 OR more of the specified element.

Hi, very useful and easy to follow tutorial. However I've got to say that t I find the example a bit unfortunate. I cannot get on with the idea of wife being an element of husband as it is his age or his name. In most of the democratic countries the wife doesn't belong to his husband. I know it's only an example but it really shows the still stick in the past mentality. My suggestion for a better, more democratic and fair example would be something like: ( insert here name, age, whatever elements of that person..) (insert here name, age, whatever elements of that person..) If we want real equality we have to change these little things too. Thanks for the tutorial :)

Well if we are to nitpick... Why is the wife element below the husband element as if women are below men? Why are you defining the members of a marriage by binary terms? (husband or wife) as if same-sex marriage does not exist? why does the marriage contain only two elements with no respect for cultures with polygamy? What about people of a certain sex who identify with a different role than the one you assigned to them? (i.e a male who is married to a man and a woman and identifies himself as a wife)? What about people who decide to marry themselves? I find your comment offensive as it contains clear elements of racism, homophobia, and patriarchy and does not include minorities and alternative lifestyles.

People.... A husband 'HAS A' wife...Period. There is a "HAS A" Relationship. It is common sense that a husband doesn't own a wife or that a wife is beneath the husband. Sigh...(Feeling annoyed). Listen to what he says when he creates the DTD document. Listen Carefully. He says: "...should only have one wife" (When he creates the second line within the DTD. At the end).
