Thank you! This is the best Keystep 37 tutorial I've found online, much better and more in-depth than Arturia's own tutorials. Apparently, Arturia is making great products but not doing great in explaining them. I think Arturia should support this channel to provide tutorials for all of their products.

Could not agree with you more. Arturia needs better support for beginners especially. Their videos are vague. No details. And the manuals a nightmare to read. I was ready to send this back. But the product is good but the support is poor.. No phone. Just email. Email them and get a reply 5 days later. Not good. I guess they don't care about a user who is just beginning with a midi controller.

Thanks, this was great! So much easier to go through the different functions while watching a video than by reading the manual, for me at least. Good tips that I think even @loopop missed. Namely that you can let go of the shift key once you've selected the user scale and hold shift to jump over arp modes and seq patterns. 👍🏼

I don't think anyone on the planet knows the ins and outs of this keyboard as well as you do. You use it in a way that you can accomplish anything with just this Keystep 37. I just bought one and I am having a hell of time figuring out the best way to set this up with Logic Po X. I'm blown away by all you know regarding this keyboard. I agree with @kayahanli. Arturia support for a new user is terrible but they make great products. They assume everyone knows how to set this up even if you never used a midi controller. Would love if you could do a tutorial on setting up with Logic Pro. Thank you.

Great tutorial, thank you! I'm getting mine in three days and now feel I'm prepared. I almost went for the new Minilab 3, but since I already have the fabulous Nektar Panorama P1 control surface, the Minilab seemed a bit pointless. The scale, chord, arp and sequence capabilities of the Keystep 37 are much more helpful, and will replace various software solutions for that in my setup, like Scaler and BlueArp with a more hands-on solution. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Bigup! This was so helpful, been playing along and learning my keystep the last couple of evenings. So much better than trying to read the manual whilst learning, also far superior instruction than the official arturia vids. Couple of questions though, is it possible to play live with chord mode when using Kbd Play? Also can you use chord mode when overdubbing? dont think you mentioned that and doesn't seem to work for me.. Thanks again for taking the time to do this! Subscribed!!

This info is invaluable. Question though, I'm trying to sync three machines to this thing - my RD-6, TD-3 and Wasp. I'm sending out Midi data from the internal clock of the Keystep. To do this though, I have to hit "play". What I'm trying to do is strum a chord on the Wasp at the same time. I know the Wasp is monophonic, but strum works in chord mode as a more interesting arpeggio. Is it possible to play chords like this while the tempo is "playing"? Strum seems to not work for me in this scenario. As soon as I hit "stop", I can strum a chord no problem through the wasp. I was hoping to record everything like this in real time if I could. Hopefully that makes sense haha.

Would have been nice if the lights showed the available keys in the scale you set instead of showing the key that was sounding they could have made that a flashing light or different color.
@nathanwahl9224

So Strum can be either Wang or it can be Chung, but not alternate? Darn. So in a Major scale of C, I can play the C, D, E, F and G keys and get a progression of C, Dm, Em, F and G? And arpeggiate or Sequence them? Or is it Chromatic? Wow, I hope so, there's a couple of songs that could be made very easy, especially considering that I'm also singing lead and playing bass with the other hand. I'm going to be using this live gigging as a MIDI 5 pin input to a Roland Juno DS61, mostly for playing bass and freeing up a couple more octaves on the Juno. Most of this stuff is pretty useless live, but you never know.

Hello! Is it dangerous if the Keystep 37 is powered by DC 12V 1.5A together with the USB power supply from the computer? Has anyone tried? Normally with DC 12V it should be powered in standalone mode. BUT how else can you connect the controller with CV/Gate, with Midi DIN and with USB (for VSt, DAW) otherwise? I didn't really understand the adapter that Keystep comes with!

Need some help please. Firstly, thank you for the video! My problem that I’m hung up on that may be easily (seems like it should be) solvable. I have the clock being sent from Ableton to the Keystep and in some cases I’d like to press play in Ableton without😩 the Keystep’s sequencer starting! Is there a switch I can toggle so I can record the keyboard in as normal playing without having to turn the sequencer off every time on the Keystep, after pressing playback on my DAW? Thanks for your help in advance!

I guess the number of chords notes played together is limited to the number of available voices on the synth. Like if the synth is limited to 6 voices , playing a 8 notes chord on the keystep will end in a 6 notes anyway, right ?
