As someone who's been listening to EDEN for years, let me explain why the drop sounds so weird. EDEN has always tried to put emotions into his songs. You might have already seen that with the way he sings. But he also tries to incorporate emotions into the instrumental. For xo, this drop was likely made like this to show the pain he's been hiding behind the lyrics. He speaks like he's proud, not affected by their breakup, but he's actually very hurt. You may listen to the extended version of this song (just look for "xo extended") where he actually tells the truth about how he feels at the end. I understand why people don't like it, but it's an artistic choice. He actually does that a lot with his songs. Check out another song from him named icarus at around 4min30, it's even more painful to hear, and it's made on purpose.
