@killaJJ760 but before Fatima, there was PAULA.
@GalaxyNexus13 жыл бұрын
She literally did not. Paula had nothing to do with dance icons like Madonna, and Paula choreographed 3 Janet videos. She's not Janet. She didn't perform the moves, she didn't sell the videos, she didn't conceptualize the videos, she didn't sing the songs, she didn't write the songs, she didn't produce the songs, she didn't sell out the concerts, she didn't tour the world, she wasn't involved with the plethora and majority of heavy dance video and performances Janet has given the world. Janet has been dancing onstage since she was 7. Please. I love Paula, but she did not invent Janet Jackson. She just invented 3 fantastic dance routines. And Janet's most iconic and influential dance routines all were choreographed by people other than Paula.
@GilbertGTV3 жыл бұрын
GalaxyNexus1 I’m gonna let you pass with all yours passion, because I get it. You think someone is coming for someone you idolize. I get it. No one said Paula “invented” Janet. Paula did, however, invent the style of performing that female pop icons use today. Paula created the blueprint; the template. When Paula was tapped to work with Janet, it was right after she choreographed the Victory tour for the Jacksons, (including Michael). The goal was for Paula to literally give Janet a style of movement that would set her apart from her brother Michael. This was very important for Janet. Janet was shy at first. She didn’t want to dance in front of Paula or the other dancers. She wanted to just watch Paula dance. Paula had to show Janet a brand new way of performing. And yes, Janet absolutely made it her own. She took it and ran with it and literally became one of the greatest female performing artists of all time. She was the exceptional student... but she didn’t come up with all of that one her own. Paula showed her and paved the way for her. This is all I meant. We owe so much for Paula. Paula is just too humble to insist on her own credit. She was fine with sliding into the background after 1994 when she injured herself and had to retire. It’s a shame. She would have stayed the icon she was and fully present in the mind of the popular public like she deserves to be.
@GalaxyNexus13 жыл бұрын
@@GilbertGTV I didn't take it as you coming for anyone nor do I idolize anyone. I'm stating the facts. I actually adore Paula Abdul but to claim she invented the female pop dance icon is laughable. Both Janet and Madonna were far more influential on the genre than Paula Abdul. And if you actually want to give credit for modern day female dance pop icons, Michael Jackson is the blueprint. Period. He invented the dance pop superstar, male, female, black, white, asian and everything in between. Beyonce was looking up to MJ before JJ and definitely before PA. And Paula herself was inspired by Michael. Everything Paula did for Janet was in direct response to what Michael already did. Period. Even right this moment, Beyonce is promoting her Ivy Park line by posing on her toes like Mike, not by doing a step ball change that Paula choreographed. Having said that, though, Paula remains Forever My Girl.
@GilbertGTV3 жыл бұрын
@@GalaxyNexus1 Michael is next level. You really can't compare any artist to him. What i said originally is that Paula invented the lane for females. Men and women had different unspoken rules in music back in the day, as I am sure you know. There was no real equality the way we are fighting for now. And Paula's style of movement had never been seen before in music, even with Michael. She had a revolutionary style all her own that she literally gave to Janet. You called what I was saying laughable, but if i'm being honest, the only think laughable is you still trying to sell Janet when you even admit Paula was her first choreographer. I honestly just think you need to do your homework a little. And Madonna is amazing, but she's not known as a dancer. You can't compare Madonna, as a dancer, to Britney, J-Lo, Janet, or Paula. Madonna doesnt move like that, nor has she ever tried. She is talented, but not in that way.
