Is 3dsmax a powerfull modelling animation particles for games or game development????
@XoioDe
@XoioDe 4 жыл бұрын
@@abdelrahmanmohmed3185 Hi! Well, I don't quite understand what you mean by "particles". 3ds-Max can be used to prepare game assets fro sure, if you connect it to a game engine like UE4. If you are interested in particles you should definitely check out TyFlow for Max. Hope that helps.

I mean raining ,snow,clouds, sky
@XoioDe
@XoioDe 4 жыл бұрын
@@abdelrahmanmohmed3185 You can definitely simulate all of them with different tools: snow and rain would be rather a particle task (Tyflow, PFlow, ...) while clouds would be a volume simulation (FumeFX, Phoenix, ...). But if you want to do that for games - it's definitely something that has to be done inside the game engine. UE4 and Unity have their own particle systems ... Ok?

How do you extend the terrian? I know you can make the square bigger, but I think it might slow down max. Also I am wondering about roads too.
@XoioDe
@XoioDe 8 ай бұрын
It helps if you know roughly how big the terrain should be from start. Max should generally not get slower by the size of terrain, while the polygon count should be kept in consideration. But the width of roads is something you can find out. It surely helps to have a smaller test terrain to get familiar with the process.

please help, the displacement is not applying, instead the plane is just moving up and down
@XoioDe
@XoioDe 2 жыл бұрын
Ok - the texture is in the texture slot I assume. try this. Forget the displacment for a second and put the noise-texture in the diffuse color channel and do a super quick test render. If the color is all white or black or the noise is much too small, then you are at the wrong scale and need to play with the scale value. Maybe this helps?

Hey, Josh - I figure it is a lot about texturing in the end. Terrains can have the perfect topology, but they will look boring if the textures don't provide enough detail. It's a whole different chapter to be talked about ;).

Great tutorial! But I'm not sure what I did wrong for the vol. select technique. Mine turned out so spiky. The faces it selected is through out the whole plane. The mountain form is not even there. Edit: got it, I think its because my plane was very big.

Are there other possbilites when it comes to texturing it or just the one you showed? And about that, to what do you connect that gradient ramp map after?
@XoioDe
@XoioDe 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Oh, you can obviously do any kind of mapping technique that you see fit. For terrains I would always propose that the topology also has something to do with the shading, that's why I "reuse" the node that I use for the displacement for the shading. But apart from that you can plug that anywhere. Alternatively you can also make use of some Ambient Occlusion Node, but they are a little more intense in computing and possibly somewhat noisy. As far as I remember I plugged the Gradient into the diffuse shader. Mostg people doon't know that you can "map" the gradient ramp, so that's what I wanted to showcase. Good luck with your further development!

Amazing tutorial! I learned quite a bit on the first two examples. I'm using 2024. I can't get your third example to work at all. When I add the noise Modifier, using your settings (any settings) I get hundreds of sharp peaks. Can you help me understand if something has changed in this 3ds Max version, or am I doing something wrong?
@XoioDe
@XoioDe Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback. Concerning your last point: Hard to tell from afar. From my experience the scale of the noise could be too small, which results in very weird spikes. Otherwise in general the scales are off. I normally avoid scaling stuff directly in Max, because you don't see it and stuff starts to behave really strange. Hope that gave some insight.
@brandmaccus

@@XoioDe I figured it out. I adopted meters on my user settings to follow along with your tutorial, but I neglected to change the system units. It didn't cause a problem until the third example.
