Great tone and playing! I fell in love with the BB Preamp when I used it in the studio almost 10 years ago. I still own one, however, I currently have an Oz Noy AC/RC on my board. I wish Xotic pedals got more love!
@moustachio3343 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite KZbin videos. So many great riffs. I love how the BB Preamp just gives you more without sounding like it’s own effect. I can never figure out why pedals like the OCD (a pedal to me that sounds like how you described “a blanket of distortion over your clean tone”) get so much praise but people sleep on the BB Preamp. I can’t wait to afford a BB Preamp and a Maxon OD9 Pro+ for a comparison. The treble and bass knobs are a huge advantage though.
@ZachWish3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words! Definitely a great pedal.
@0megalul3092 жыл бұрын
cos bb preamp sounds good with good amps. Most people run expensive pedals into shit amps. OCD works with any amp but with a quality amp with its own gain, bb preamp is godlike.
@ryans9029 Жыл бұрын
The BB Preamp is a modified tubescreamer circuit with added EQ.. you can clearly hear that it also has a clean tone blended within the distorted tone... Like all TS circuits do..

Bought my BB Pre-Amp in 2007............sometimes I’m surprised I’ve kept it so long. Just one of those love/hate relationships I guess. Always thought it shined best with 6L6 high gain amp, clean amp & single coils, or stacking on top of a higher gain pedal for leads. Anyway.....great demo as usual.....thanks.

The one pedal that I've never parted with or ever will, is the Barber LTD. I've had that one for about 15 years now. Several OD, boost and distortion pedals have come and gone, but the LTD will be buried with me. Oddly enough, I have yet to try the BB, so it will be on my radar to test at some point. I only use the LTD and nothing else. Awesome channel and tones!

I've got the same relationship with my JHS Klon. It's been on my board for just over 10 years now (I had to look back and see when I originally emailed Josh about having one built as they never advertised them on their website) but yeah. October of 2009. While it does impart some character on the sound, it really just takes what tone is there and just makes more of it. It's the "Give me more of that and make it better" pedal. The only amp it really seem to help out on is the Mesa Studio preamp but one could argue that the IIC circuit doesn't need any help. I've had my Dunlop 535Q wah pedal though since 1998 and my Boss CE5 since 99. Unkillable.

@rjo85003 жыл бұрын
Chris Rogers Original version (orange) has more compression. Newer (red) more open. Andy Timmons actually requested his signature model be based on the original.
@quericoesteyogur2 жыл бұрын
between the pre 2007 and post 2007 there is a notable difference when you move the gain control, in the pre 2007 there is more compression due to the cut of 2 diodes and in the post 2007 versions there is less compression (4 diodes), a little more range clean and volume. With the gain at 0 you will not notice any difference. Anyway, just with Gain at 0 and Vol max it's amazing how you can push marshall style amps \m/
