I appreciate the comparison, but wish they were both tuned the same.

Thanks for the comment Ben, yes I totally understand. I had just got the guitar set up to where i liked it, tuned down a half step, and then thought to do the video. It didn't make any difference really to the tone of the guitar, need better planning next time, cheers Count.

Agreed, that was annoying AF.

A perfect comparison except for two different guitars, two different tunings and a coiled cable.

Awesome guitars man! What’s the neck profile like? Currently have .810 - 9.10 necks

Thanks Oh Bryan, These both have compound 7.25 to 10 radius. Think thin 52 tele at the nut to more of a LP 60s feel at the 12th fret with maybe very slightly wider string spacing. Comfortable modern C shape but with a slight change in shape to accomplish the compound radius. They are also very fast to play. The necks feel more substantial than they actually are, when compared to my other guitars. The roasted maple feels lighter but also very stable.

About to decide which set to buy! Can you tell me what the speakers are in your amps? I have a Jensen Blackbird alnico 12" 100watt in a Egnater Tweaker and wonder which would fit me best. Im eyeing the rv-60 for more presence but not sure. Thank you
@counttwangular14294 жыл бұрын
The Bassman amp has original Alnico Jensen P10r speakers which sound very authentically tweedy and Alnico like, The Vibrolux has Weber vintage series Ferromax speakers which are a great match for the Blackface era circuits. On the pickups, I would suggest the RV50's may pair better with the Alnico and simple tweed type overdriven amp circuits. The 60's are probably going to be more consistent if you use Pedals and a more modern sounding or clean amp. Unless you want to be Hendrix playing freakish blues with a 50s strat through a Twin with tons of fuzz and a howling feedback, then the 50's are sick. It's really hard, I have both and don't know which i would choose over the other, the 50's are Wild stallions and the 60s are more of a Tamed thoroughbred. Let me know how you get on.

I saw few youtuber sell their fender custom shop since they buy Xotic XSC

Webber Lai I own an Xotic xsc-2 and they are truly remarkable. Purchased it after I return a fender ultra Strat. Night and day difference.

Im not a youtuber, but my great CS Strat had to go when I bought an Xotic Strat. Its a really really really great guitar. Build quality better than custom shop. I also have an Xotic Tele now. Amazing guitars. But I did not really get along with the pick ups in both guitars. So they are changed 😀

Hard to understand the point of this video with the two guitars tuned differently. Also, didn’t hear anything about whether the strings were identical, and their age. Also no mention of pickup heights being identical or not.

I have the RV-60s and I find them too spiky. It's also hard to get enough signal from the E and B strings to match the low end. And believe me, I tried every frickin height possible and different wiring harnesses.

Hi Matt, what guitar are they in, also what amp/ pedals are you using are you using?

@@counttwangular1429 fender American performer. Using a fractal fm 3
@counttwangular14292 жыл бұрын
@@mattz1686 It is tricky to make a guess but it may not be anything you have tried changing already, I would not describe the RV60s as spiky at all, or that the pickup height is the issue, so assuming they are the same sounding as the set I have, the fender should be in the right ball park for them also. Next in question may be the cable you are using, or the impedance of the fractal input. I would try different cables, especially a short one to get an idea if you are loosing mid range from the signal, the RV60s are a bit more mid range heavy. Not necessarily that you need more expensive cable but some work better than others at different lengths. Also as a suggestion try the guitar with other amps, maybe get to a guitar shop and see how it sounds with other gear to get an idea of what you are hearing from the fractal. I use a Vox curly cable, into a Cali76 comp and then a RC booster so I can adjust the clean eq/loudness depending on the guitar I am using.

HI Matt, i just posted a video to try and give you a reference point for working out your sound with these pickups, hope it is useful. Cheers Count T kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXa6ZaJnedKUeqM

Got the neck and bridge RV-60. Can’t really get them to sound right. Please would you be so kind to tell me the pickup height on the neck pickup? Also the bridge pup sounds too thin. If I eq it then neck sounds a bit too boomy. How do I strike this balance :) pickup height? Thanks.
@counttwangular14294 жыл бұрын
Hi Che, My pickups are set as they were on the guitar when i got it, so probably factory set, Neck is 7mm top of pickup cover to bottom of the string, Bridge is more like 4.5mm. hope that helps. Count

Count Twangular did you press the string on the last (highest) fret when you measured this?
@counttwangular14294 жыл бұрын
@@Cheguebuddha no, i measured the distance to the strings as they sit normally.
