Nice! Did you shoot it in HLG? That would explain why it looks blown out when importing to Final cut. The fix: Select the clip. Click the 'i' with the circle around it, look for the menu near the bottom which says "Basic”. Change it to "Settings”. Then change Color Space Override to “Rec. 2020”.

Cinema pro is always filming in HLG and there's no settings for others. But you can turn of the phone camera stabilisator and that's normally recommended when using a gimbal. But fun with the slow pan. Bra jobbat. :)

I THINK the reason it's blown out (and you can confirm if the Xperia III does this) is that it's shooting in HRD mode. If you don't have a HRD monitor, or you do have a HDR monitor but your computer isn't set to display HDR, then it will look blown out. You can test this by watching HDR content on YT. It amazing watching the same video on a HDR and non HDR monitor and seeing how blown out it looks. Thanks for the great video, I may get this phone.

If you need some ideas for future videos, here’s something that popped into my head while watching your vid: I have no idea what that grey thing is lol. You could make multiple short series of photography/cinematography gadgets and showcase how they work (gimbles, ND filters, lens hoods etc). It will attract more followers and engage your current audience. Wish you only the best! 🙏🏻

At this point I'm sure 100% you've figured it out but to any others with similar problems... Do check the actual embeded color profile of the recorded clips once you get them on the computer. Make sure Final Cut (or whatever NLE one is using) is set to interpret it properly. I do know Sony has MANY color profile variants themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if the Xperia is using something slightly different from the apperant options shown in app.

You mentioned that you were quite happy with the gimbal from JDI and I just wanted to ask if there are any compatibility issues that has come up with the new Xperia 1 III that you could share? I understand that the gimbal uses JDI's Mimo app for Android and many users commented that it is poorly optimised, shutter button does not work, advertised functions missing etc. especially with newer phones. So now I am unsure if it is worth investing in this gimbal at all. Could you please share your experience? Thank you!

I tried the Mimo app but didn't use it. Seems like you can't shoot in 4K, and the camera looks like it does in Snapchat/Instagram. The Native Sony app is 10x better imo. But maybe it's something can change in the settings, but my first feeling was that it's made for iPhone.
