I agree. Especially after they acquired Minolta, I thought it was a “shot in the dark.” I never thought they would eclipse the success of the Walkman, and I was a nay-sayer at first. I’m blown away by what Sony has accomplished. Their vision in the imaging business is superb. Bravo.

I had countless Xperia phones over the years, ultimately I have to give up getting more. Due to the low demand and hence limited inventory of replacement parts, any damage especially the glass will cost big time. I had broken the displays of both my Xperia 5 and Xperia 5 IV. Simply too costly to replace. My Xperia 5 II's display started to have defective green lines after 15 months. That's not even counting the Z, XZ series from years ago. The prices to repair can get me new Pixel phones. I still miss the Xperia form factor, but my heart cannot take another breakage.

It seems like they nailed it this time, finally more resolution and sensitivity to play with. Also apparently it has a night view. Lets see how good the camera software performs and the dynamic range compares to other flagships, but this seems like a super solid phone, expandible storage, headphone jack and uninterrupted cinematic display. This might just be my next phone.❤

Hope sony improved auto mode and fixed overheating issues. If they did, it will be the best smartphone on the market. I use xz1 and i love it, it's such a nice phone.

@@tatatly6762 I'm actually being serious, I fixed the display on the Rog3 as well back in 2021 and ASUS still hasnt fixed it themselves in 2023. It will require unlocked bootloader tho so youll have to void your warranty.

I'm a big Sony fan. I think I've been using Sony for 50 years. Video Cassette player, walkman, TV, Radio, music set, PC Tablet, Telephone, earphones.. Believe me, I have never once contacted the service for a problem or repair. Except for the ones I gave as a gift due to model change, all my Sonys at home are still sparkling and all still in working order. Need more words to describe Sony class and quality? For those who want Sony; there is Porsche (Xperia 1 v) and there is also a public car (Xperia 10 v). Sony always the best.❤

I absolutely loved my old Z1 Experia. I had it 6 years before I damaged it. I then went to a Nokia 7 Plus, which was a really good cheap phone with an amazing battery life. After that I tried my very first Iphone, with the 13 Mini. I really love the Mini, but if I move back to Android, Sony is my number one choice. I know many people rave about the S23 Ultra and I do like that phone, but Sony really do put so much effort in the detail and quality of their phones...especially for photography enthusiasts. They are specialist phones that anyone can use.

The new camera sensor seems very promising. Whereas Google makes the most of the camera with software, Sony seems be more conservative and wants to introduce new hardware to do the heavy lifting. I'm curious to see what the phone is going to be like in the real world. I'd love to upgrade from my Xperia 5! Been on team Sony since the Sony Ericsson days.

We chose Xiaomi's specs instead of durability of Sony. And every Xiaomi phone have issues down the line. From motherboard, cameras, to battery etc... It's the reviewers' fault too. They will suggest to buy a better spec cheap quality phone than a slightly expensive but way more durable phone of same specs. People fell into the quad camera, megapixel and other cheap gimmicks of those Chinese phones and suffering. An average lifespan of a POCO phone is 1.5 years. But I can use my XZ1 compact, which is 6 year old without any issues. It won't even lag! And takes better pictures and way better 4K videos compared to those 64MP quad camera phones.

so long as it's natural looking. If you mean "improve night mode" by using the same fake looking night vision goggles style pictures that an iphone or galaxy gives then no thanks. If the new dual layer sensor can achieve similar results to what a full frame camera can do in terms of natural looking low light shots then yes.

@@Sabundy I hope it's obvious to people that it doesn't have bad night mode, they're just bad at photography. A 1/1.7" sensor is perfectly capable of night photography. Just, ya know, you have to use a longer exposure length. Which "average consumers" think is bad because it always turns out blurry, despite the problem clearly being that they did not use a tripod.

I am a British-Japanese artist/designer/creator in London and always love everything SONY gave me since childhood. Remember 1st Walkman? I am using Xperia XZ Premium rose gold since 2017 already had 4K video, 3D Modelling scanner and app, creative photo apps. SONY screen never crack even from 20 meters high on to the concrete floor! Unlike some in-built expiry to user must buy new ones every year? Not sustainable! Think about global environmental issues with heavy metals. I'd pick up one of those brand new breakthrough. (But I love my XZP! never failed)

If I were an Android user (I'm not) I would have a tough time picking between a 1 V and Pixel Pro. Sony should be commended for sticking with Micro SD support. I'm not 100% sure but it feels like they are the only Android mobile phone manufacturer that still offers this. Along with a headphone jack when others decided to cash in on wireless headphones. I have respect for this company as I have fond memories of the Sony products I have owned and used.

I fell in love with sony phones since Sony Xperia Z. I never looked at other phones since. I had Xperia Z, Xperia XZ, Xperia 1 ii and Xperia 1iv. Whenever the new flagship comes out, I fall in love all over again. I would love to have my hands on the Xperia 1v but my Xperia 1iv is still performing top notch.
