Xplorations Vol 1 - Patches 1 to 32 - Sequential Prophet X

Here is the 1st of 4 Videos, highlighting Patches 1 to 32 of Xplorations Vol 1 for the Sequential Prophet X. I decided to do a Bank for the Prophet X, however I went and Sampled a variety of Oscillators from the Synths that I own, including Moog ONE, Dreadbox Erebus, Moog Sirin, Matriarch and much more.
I've sampled the Oscillators wide open and every Key across a 61 note range and used the Synthesis capabilities of the Prophet X. I have also utilized some of the Factory Content, such as Strings and Choirs for some of the Patches, as well as the on-board Oscillators.
Many Patches are Stacked or Splits, however many use the fantastic Stereo Filter for Evolving pads, Strings, Leads, Bass and so much more.

Yeah, they did take a long time as I Sampled 14 of my Synths, over 30 Multisample sets before I even started making a single sound. So yeah, took a long time and I make Sounds that I want to hear, so I don't think "That'll do"...no, I have to be impressed with them too :)

@@GEOSynths a great thing about that is, you can use sample robot to deploy those waves anywhere you like. Am considering whether to buy this synth, your samples are making me think it’s a good idea. 😉 I added a bunch of my own multis to my Wavestate, but on that synth you can’t modulate the start point on wavesamples, or change loop points on the fly, etc. and of course no digital filter sounds as good as the analog filters in proper synths like these, the OB, etc. Don’t care what people say... analog filters always sound better to me!

Just got this, Some Great Presets ! Had to load the Sysex file in my PC via USB , like 4 times before it got 100% (unsing the latest Official FW not the BETA) ...and also had to correct the Pitch like in you clear instructions. Sequential should look into these "minor" bugs,

I hope you gonna do some more packs for the Prophet X after you finished Xplorations! Will buy this one for sure! You get new samples for the Prophet X to use for your own user presets and you get some amazing presets. Much better than the boring presets you get when you buy a sample pack from 8DIO.

Thanks. Yeah, this is the first time I've done Multisampling for years and years, so wasn't really looking forward to it as working with Samples isn't the same as pur VCO's...That said, it has surprised me how much better it is using a variety of Samples from my Synths. Not sure about more, it depends on how well or not Vol 1 does. It generally takes a month working on a Bank of 128, longer if there are multi-layers, so I have to work wisely on a Synth for my Business to continue.

I am swept away with the rich sounds of the Prophet X. As I am still undecided whether to get Prophet X or Prophet Rev 2 16, as both of them have awesome sounds.

Both are good and the Prophet X works in a simiar way to the REV 2, but has a lot of additional features obviously. Find a dealer who has one and ask them for their "Best Price"...See what they offer.

It's basically Omnisphere in a box. And that's a good thing. I'd imagine you could make pretty much any sound you could think of on this thing.

The un-basic thing is that Omnisphere can not possess analog filters., which the Prophet X does.

@@duel5071 True, but analog vs digital is often such a small difference these days that it's literally imperceptible... especially in a mix. It mattered in the past, but now it's kind of moot. Even in Sequential's case, they had to write algorithms in the firmware to make their analog synths sound more "analog". The "vintage" knob uses digital techniques on analog circuitry to emulate the old lo-fi analog sound... because analog hardware quality has improved so much that it now typically sounds "digital". So the firmware makes it artificially detune and drift and stuff, to sound older. And, as it turns out, the same techniques work just as well for fully digital synths. Emulation of analog hardware is extremely accurate now. Or at least, it can be, when the developers bother to do it. It frequently emulates analog hardware at a component level, in much the same way that circuit designers test the analog behavior circuits in software, before ever building one IRL. Or, when that method is deemed too computationally expensive, accurate results can be generated by AI modelling. Or even just high-resolution lookup tables based on measurements of physical circuits. Anyway, long story short... the Prophet X is great, soft synths are great, and the analog-vs-digital distinction is largely a thing of the past.

These sound really good! Too bad I don't own a Prophet X or I would pick this up. I over looked the Prophet X cause I felt the sample engine editing was very simplistic, and was hoping you would get more creative options to tweak samples for experimentation. It also had a pretty hefty price tag ( and you have to invest more money for extra sample libraries), but obviously in the right hands it can sound really rich and dynamic.I guess I'll start saving my Pennies for the Prophet X REV2!

Great work! Have you considered putting your raw wavesamples up for sale? I’d totally buy, because i’m also into sampling raw waveforms and filtering them afterward. A lot of times i make stereo waves out of mono sources too, just 2 passes panned left and right.

Great stuff Jamie. Is that a (B)VC340 I hear on patch 26? I just pulled the trigger on a used XL, a crazy good price so couldn't resist. Promised myself that it will be the very last purchase I make for the rest of this year haha! I've always missed my original X which sadly went to bricked heaven more than a year ago :(

Haha...”Last Purchase”...You’re a Gearslut like me :). Yes, it’s the VC-340 for the Strings and one of the on-board Choirs. I’ve had it for 18 months, but only got into the X recently...some weird quirks with it, but the Stereo Filter is really good.

HI, I own the XL and am interested in the Moog One and some other synths.. did you loose any sound quality or loss of controls when you sampled it to the X? Would you prefer to play the Moog One sounds on the Moog hardware or Dave Smith? Thank you very much!

Hi, I didn't sample the Patches I made from the Moog One or others, just the raw Oscillators, wide open (Saw/Square/Triangle/others) and built the sounds from scratch using them on the PX.

Are most of these sounds samples from other synths?

I sampled the raw oscillators of 14 Synths, every note has a sample and then I used the Synthesis on board to make the patch. I’ve used some of the factory content, like strings, piano, that sort of thing, the rest are made from my wide open oscillators...it took a looooong time to do it all :). There are no baked in samples just saw, triangle, square and some combi samples.
