To get my hands on anything is a four hour drive one way. I combed through reviews. Many of which really felt like propaganda cheerleading (that one dad guy I'm looking at you). I like your low key presentation, and really accurate communication. You communicated real world expectations exactly on par with what I experienced once the machine arrived. I wish you could have gotten your hands on an HP ENVY, but speaking with other reviewers HP doesn't seem to understand the value in providing review units, at least not with the ENVY (new not the old Envy). You can see that in the ShortCircuit unboxing video from about a month ago if you want. The 17 _is_ noticeably bigger.

The undervolt thing seem to be intel’s problem, I have some old dell machines which I updated the bios lately, the undervolt option disappeared after the update. Dell’s ans for this is that they are following intel’s new recommendations for security reasons, to disable the capability of undervolting
@Noah_Ropp4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Intel found vulnerabilities with undervolting. The 10th-gen CPUs come out of the box unable to be undervolted, and they’re pushing out updates to prevent select older CPUs from being undervolted. A shame, though.
@frankun87554 жыл бұрын
@@Noah_Ropp the bios update is killing the cheap gaming laptop industry.... I got a dell g5, and it is totally unusable without indervolting, thermal throttling all the time.... Luckily there is some way to reable it, though I don't think new laptop can do that...

Do you recommend the XPS 15 for video editing? Would you recommend any HP laptops for video editing?

Another great review Dave. As a long term user of XPS and equivalent Precision laptops, I would love an XPS 17 with the additional screen real estate. However, as your review wasn't as glowing as I expected, and as you are a massive fan of the Razer Blade, what are your views on the XPS 17 versus the 2020 Razer Blade Pro 17?
@SamuelGfeller4 жыл бұрын
DEFINITELY heavier than I thought lol. I was with Surface Pros in the last 4 years that I could easily take out of my bag with two fingers when I wanted to work a little bit. But now, with the 15" xps boy oh boy I almost need both hands. 17" Definitely too big and heavy for me.

There are multiple reasons we probably won't see AMD in Dell machines anytime soon, unfortunately. Next year will definitely be a big maybe

@@iansteelmatheson The only reason Ryzen isn't in this model is because OEM's couldn't see the performance of Renoir chips in time. Now that OEM's have clear evidence that Renoir is superior to Comet Lake, they are already developing blueprints for next year's devices with Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 mobile processors in mind.
