thank you for uploading such an easy tutorials. it helps a lot to those who are naive in material characterization . keep it up Dr.

Nice video sir, Kindly answer the following questions: 1. How to calculate no. of electrons from the intensity peak? 2. How to designate the peaks as to 3d shell, 2p shell etc., based on intensity versus binding curve? 3. How does one know that an electron is ejected from a particular shell?

Very well Questions. I will answer these questions or make video on it. Thanks a lot

Thank you for the explanation. What is the difference between the binding energy and work function?
@qamarwali Жыл бұрын
Good question! According to my understanding, both looks same but use in different terminology. WF is the minimum energy require(Photon energy or heat energy) to liberate or remove electron (the bonded electron) from the metal and sometimes it refers BINDING ENERGY.

I would like to know the carbon content on the surface of gear flank with a diameter of about 50 mm and a thickness of 20 mm made of steel. Is it possible for a sample of that size. Is there any other method if XPS is not possible for the same purpose? Please help me..
@qamarwali2 жыл бұрын
XPS can do the job. This method is especially designed to give information of the different contents exist in a single material. For instance, in your case Carbon and Steel so you will get information in terms of atomic % and weight %. It will clearly shows that how much % is Carbon and how much % is Steel. For the dimension, I recommend to ask the XPS machine operator. I am not sure about this part of the question

@@qamarwali Thank you very much. I am new to this subject. I have followed some of your other videos but have not gotten an XPS tutorial that starts from sample preparation to determining the chemical content of the material surface.
@qamarwali2 жыл бұрын
@@fauzanhz4782 I suppose, you just handover your sample to the XPS operator if you are a researcher so you will get your results. If you wish to operate XPS machine then that is another story 😊🌸

@@qamarwali That is why I am currently looking for the most effective information to quickly understand from sample preparation to data analysis. The laboratory where I am currently conducting my research does not provide specialised operator.😥

@@fauzanhz4782 oh I see. I strongly recommend to look into the manual of the XPS. Every machine has it. Secondly, ask some company who are dealing XPS. Wish you all the best in your study.
