Why does Qualified Immunity feels like when the Police Department investigates themselves and find absolutely nothing that can incriminate themselves

Does it mean the department can’t be sued for it. Or the police officer himself can’t be sued for it. Because I thought it just protected the individual officer from being sued, and the department would be sued instead.

Qualified Immunity is such a fucked law. There was a cop who got Qualified Immunity for stepping on a guy's outstretched knee until the kneecap broke and the leg bent backwards. The court determined that, because there wasn't a previous case that explicitly told officers not to step on a guy's outstretched knee and break his kneecap, this officer couldn't have known that what he did was unconstitutional, despite the fact that it is well known that torture is unconstitutional.

Yeah, it's reasonable for a guy who's time has been wasted with an illegal traffic stop, and has been threatened with having his vehicle towed without cause, to be "jumpy". He shouldn't have been stopped at all, but the cop fabricated some bullshit. You don't have to be a doormat to get an A+ in a police interaction.

i get qualified immunity with mistakes, not with ignorance, this cop didn't even know the law he is supposed to enforce, that is not a mistake that is ignorance, he just wants to stop people to catch someone and get paid not because he was suspicious of him

This officer thinks California is it’s own country or something. Oh noooo I’m a Texas resident in California I’m not allowed to drive??? Like maybe think a little bit. Maybe if he said a United States issued divers license then yes that would’ve made more sense in my head
@eatyourvegetables14496 ай бұрын
That’s kind of how states work. For example California doesn’t take concealed weapons permits from any other state.

@@colbyreyburn6432 but in regards to how the govt is run, police, how polarized the people are politically, economically and the disparity of the social classes especially living here in LA , it isn’t the greatest. Grateful to be here and I understand what you’re saying but this country and the whole world as a whole with all the shit happening is not so great for the people that don’t have power nor the money to be somewhat immune to it or escape it. Gotta deal with it, even suffer. Makes “us” feel better to joke and laugh about it to escape the harsh reality.

ALOT of states have vehicle inspection places. Most of the time before you can register your vehicle in a state they make you go through inspection and get approved first.
