The Mark Rober clip is wrong about the reason airplane mode exists. It's to do with cellular towers and the interference caused by 1000's of phones flying over 100's of towers an hour that causes latency signal and signal interference for locals to each tower. This has been fixed in some areas of high air traffic by angling the cellular tower dishes down so they don't give enough signal to overhead phones. There's some other side effects but doppler radar (radar altitude measuring method) is not interfered by mobile phones. Airplane mode myth just keeps getting new false information on what it was needed for. Just make the planes cabin a faraday cage if it is really an issue, which since not one airplane manufacturer has ever done that on purpose atleast, it clearly has never been an issue for airplanes.
