Like most people in the world I have never heard of this streamer. RL is an 8 year old game and still pulls millions of monthly unique players according to the public tracker sites. 50k daily players just on steam alone which hasn't supported the game since Epic obtained it in 2020. Add Xbox, Playstation, Switch and Epic players and yeah like I said.. Millions. Rocket League is more mainstream than this guy I'd say. RL probably has more players than the combined total of people who are currently watching a stream on twitch. Talk about obscurity.. -watching another guy play a game live for hours isn't exactly a mainstream activity.

I've played for years and am still only GC. To get to their level you basically have to be born to do it , like Slash was for guitar or Usain Bolt for the sprint. You also have to be really honest with yourself and willing to make big changes to your whole setup.. Which leads to my next point. Zen has revolutionised rocket league by using the triggers to air roll, instead of the bumpers. This allows fine control of the air roll speed because triggers have sensitivity where bumpers are on/off switches. I believe in a year or so almost everyone will be copying him and using triggers for air roll (some people already are). So he's taking the game forward already for sure. You will see some insane air plays/resets with that fine control when everyone has it perfected. Of course theres has always been people who have used triggers, but nowhere near at the level Zen has shown is possible.

Rocket League is one of the few game where it's genuinely hard to be really good. In other games like shooters, it's pretty obvious and easy to be skilled - you just need to learn positioning, game sense, and aim. But Rocket League is a whole different thing. There are no other games like it, so you can't rely on previous training. That's what makes it so unique. When I see these pro players I admire them because this is the only game where I ask myself "How do they do it?"

@BlissfulEDM Жыл бұрын
It's comparing apples to oranges here, but I'll bite. MOST pro FPS players will flat out admit CSGO is the king of shooters regarding how difficult it is to become a pro. And even then there is a DRASTIC difference between the top ten teams in the world and the rest. You can hear the opinions of even RS6 pros stubbornly agreeing with Shroud back in the day that CSGO is leagues ahead of it in how difficult it is at a pro level of play. RL is fundamentally an extremely straightforward and simple game. Block ball from going in your SINGLE net and get ball in other SINGLE net. Theoretically the basics are simple to learn, but fairly difficult to master. The macro of the game is drastically more simple than a shooter like CSGO. The information for playing the proper macro (boost management, positioning, rotates, etc) are all right in front of you. The game hands it to you. You just have to know what to do and react properly. A game like CSGO is more like chess at the macro level and that's why even RS6 pros whined about it. Because the game absolutely hands you zero information. You don't see their economy. You don't SEE their weapon placement across the map. You don't SEE their rotates. You don't SEE their rotates. List goes for miles. You have to smartly poke and prod for information and toe a dangerous line of getting too little information for what you gave up or being punished for it. People who never dove deep into CSGO never understand the utter mind games and information gathering aspects of the best pro teams. Nothing is handed to you like in a game like overwatch, valorant, RS6, etc with abilities giving information. Those top teams with combined 100,000+ hours between the players playing CS for like 15 years now are utterly disgusting in weeding out shitty teams just in the macro level alone. Much less the micro. Where these are the cream of the crop genetically/trained for that type of game for something like aim and movement. RL is heavily MICRO focused. 95% of what you see is teams bouncing back and forth with straightforward macro play while watching their teammates 1v1 in the air or at the goal. The deciding factor at this level of play most of the time is having a single player who is utterly disgusting at a micro level and able to win a 1v1 more often than he loses it. Whether that is defending in the air or taking a shot on goal. The game itself is EXTREMELY simple in regards to macro. You SEE all of the information in front of you. You see the boosts. You see where the other team is. You see the goal and how they are rotating. You see literally everything. At a pro level of play just stripping one of those away makes the game magnitudes harder. I view RL as an extremely unique version of COD if you compare FPSs to this genre of games. The top level of COD players are insanely talented regarding micro (aim, movement, etc), but at the end of the day the actual mind games and macro level play is more like checkers where something like CSGO is chess. But yeah, you're really really dumbing down a shooter like CSGO in pro play. I haven't seen another game come close to the information required each round to succeed outside of something like League or Dota. You can go find rocket league positioning guides and breakdowns of pro players and I can promise you that you will find a few hours of information out there breaking down how RL pros play their macro game with positioning, rotates, and boost. But you will get all the information you need in a few hours digging around. Doesn't mean you're close at all to them or able to implement it, but it's all you need because the game is simple. Meanwhile in CSGO you can find ex-pro players putting guides out there where they can talk about why a team stutter stepped an angle and they didn't throw a flash behind him in round 12 based off of what the other team was doing, what the team was doing, what round it was, what the economy was, how the other team played in previous rounds, how the other team plays historically, etc for 40+ minutes by itself. Pro analysis of other pro games can be 2-3 hour long videos digging deep into very small details and showing how the dynamics of the game change every time and it's a chess mind game. Sorry, sperged out.

dude, @Xqc, come on. surely you were just saying that on the heat of the moment. Going in free play and putting the shots, or have standard defense on your gaming chair against champion level opponents is one thing. Doing it at that speed, after 4 days of int'l competition, on LAN in front of 3K people, good f-ing luck. You'd crumble in fetus position after 30 seconds calling "maman"

@@La_Win69 They're both good, not very comparable, but CS has more depth to the gameplay, which I'd like to think makes it a "better" e-sport, but that may also has it's drawbacks, like not being very noob friendly.
@ragegaze3482 Жыл бұрын
@@Oscylot88 more depth how? at least mechanically no game comes even close to rocket league except maybe fortnite. I can understand the depth coming from like lineups, positioning for objectives and so on, but most of that is repeatable game by game, or round by round so I don't think it's deeper by any means. Almost everything in rocket league is improvised on the spot except the kickoff, so it's a lot harder to mess up. The games are also only like 6 minutes on average as well to be fair, so the faster paced gameplay balances out with not having to play as long.
@Oscylot88 Жыл бұрын

Started playing Rl in 2015 and always said this game has the biggest competitive potential because its legit Soccer. Even normie non gamers understand to an extent you need to get the ball in the goal to win and the fact its with cars is just an added plus and super unique. Glad its getting mainstream eyes on it because it can easily be the biggest esport.
