18:10 I understand his take, but getting outside sponsors for videos and not relying on KZbin's ADs was a luxury only top creators had. Obviously since they had a bigger platform. But the millions of smaller creators got effectively abandoned by the algorithm due to demonetisation which ended up killing alot of the channels on KZbin back in the day. Many people who made informative, high production videos on controversial topics saw very little ROI from their yt videos which caused mass hiatus for many creators and slower uploads overall. As even outside sponsors during the early days of demonetisation also stayed away from problematic content. Let's not forget how finicky the demonetisation algorithm was. People were flagged left and right without any clue, even when they've complied with KZbin's TOS. False flagging was incredibly common.

düd, the adpocalypse was the worst thing that ever happenned to KZbin. It made the site a family friendly nightmare : brain numbing videos for toddlers getting billions of views while any content with swear words is made nearly impossible to monetize, slowly pushing legendary creators like Filthy Frank to an early retirement, and forcing others to make their stuff "advertiser friendly" in the process. Not only that, it was also at that time that the algorythm was changed so that channels that post garbage content twenty times a day get more trafic that quality stuff that needs lots of work and time in making and editing (not pointing fingers at anyone, here). They also greatly increased the numbers of adds by minutes watched and greatly lowered the add revenue for creators, forcing them to find their own sponsors (good luck with that if you're a small channel, or just starting, btw). Not what I call a win/win situation for anyone, viewers or creators. I guess Susan and her shareholders took the W on that one.

Sorry but xqc's take about the adpocalypse is -somewhat wrong-. (Edit: it's not wrong but here is a *way too indept real and probably really accurate* take on why pranksters died on KZbin AND *why chat was spamming "???"* imo): The adpocalypse made it even harder for small creators to make money from ads and they needed to get sponsors to survive. So they had to stand out even more to get the chance to make enough money for themselves with KZbin only. Now sure, adpocalypse kinda meant fake content got more clowned on but it still made it harder for smaller creators with potential and snaller following and potential to even make it out alive. *ALTHOUGH*, when do you think KZbin started its infamous and mysterious recommended algorithm (that is scary good), you know around the time people switched from subscription tab to home page (recommended). 2016, when the adpocalypse started and when KZbin started using machine learning (AI) recommended. So, I guess X is wrong in a way (imo) but another factor was the AI recommended. THEN AGAIN, I love machine learning and would like to land a job within that scene and I can kind of see how the AI is better for the consumer in general because it picks up better what we like to watch (genuine content not fake pranks) but I do think the swift change to that AI algorithm did hurt the potential big creators during that change. Those changes also kinda had to be made just because of how much more people started to know about KZbin and we couldn't really have everyone trying to fight with clickbait fake controversial content on KZbin trying to make a career out of it like these guys were doing. So I guess I kinda just explained better why pranksters died on KZbin lol.

Dude I just took way too much time writing this at 4:00 am on my phone lmao

Also, xqc's take on this at the end gets better but the problem is, he has a big enough audience so that clickbait titles won't really matter because people watch him for his content more than newcomers. Also, he only uses ironic non-controversial clickbait titles. Issue with controversial clickbait titles is if you're trying too hard and that's the only thing making you special (which on KZbin shouldn't) then you shouldn't make it big.

Man facebook basically killed itself with that lowering of clickbait titles algorithm. I wanna say I kinda agree with xqc with the adpocolypse thing. Like it really made creators work at getting individual sponsors, rather than just ads that youtube would give you. Which means you dont have to worry about being against KZbin's policy as much because even of your demonotized you earn from that sponsor you negotiated for the video. But I think it also sucked because it meant alot of creators would become verryyyy child friendly or idk just self suppressing. Like now most creators I watch are scared of saying the slightest thing without getting demonized. Which makes them constantly need to look for other sponsors, which is nice because that means they'll make money and continue making content. But the issue is those companies they are getting sponsors from have policies too, that's why conservative shows really enjoy they're conservative sponsors. Like if you have a company as a sponsor and they dont like something you said in the video, whether its virgle language, some opinion of yours they dont want to be associated with. There can still be problems, so it's nice like I said but if creators are having to self suppress whether they have youtube monetization or a sponsor then it's not good. Or if they have both, they're just profiting from a sponsor and youtube monetization, and also just suppress everything they say and have to be as child friendly as possible. Well I guess that's what it is now, but what sucks about it is your taking creators who've been making content with adult or virgle language, or idk just things that aren't considered child friendly but they've been getting monetized off of it for almost a decade, and saying okay I know you're like 30 now and have kids and probably care even less about making "child friendly" content, but you wont be able to support your family now unless you do exactly that. Or spend months trying to find sponsors that will let will kinda let you say whatever you want, without also being like black rifle and pulling out as soon as some new personality doesnt agree with your view.
