Thank your for this video. I need to do this on mine as the cv rubber has split on both shafts

Do you have a link or spec for the tripod bearing? In the UK the only option we have is to buy new or refurbished shafts. Thanks

Would also like to know this!, and would like to do both inner and outer cv joints 👌

I know the drivers side here in the uk uses 26 splines but i need to know the short shaft if uses 23 or 26. I have already rebuilt the long one using tripod bearing from febest in germany

Have rebuilt both now and on my st225 both sides are 26 splines

What are good replacements for both CV joints without going genuine? You mentioned the tripod not always being in aftermarket joint. How do I know which ones have a tripod??
@N13KPE Жыл бұрын
Can the other end be replaced? Does it not fail as much hence not doing it in this vid?
@OEMDeniedPerformance Жыл бұрын
anything can fail but havent ever had one with a failed outer joint myself as its a much more robust ball type joint design. The outer joint doesnt come apart like the inner one does so if you have one with a failed outer joint you need to replace the drive shaft.

we list them with a genuine boot kit here: focusonperformance.com.au/xr5-drive-shaft-rebuild-kit/

Quick question, is the RS driveshaft exactly the same or are they different part numbers? Also, on the longer driveshaft, my tripod literally pulls out of the joint with no effort at all.it actually came out into the boot when I was changing the bottom arm. Managed to get it back in with a bit of manipulation without removing the boot. Does this sound normal? Yours seemed to require quite a bit of tapping out.
@OEMDeniedPerformance2 жыл бұрын
if the needle bearings are crushed then the joint will come apart more easily. RS is the same in sense of design but the shaft is not the same dimension wise as the ST/XR5 so the parts aren't interchangeable between them.

@@OEMDeniedPerformance Thanks for the reply. It seems i may of been lucky as the car still drives perfect with no knocks. Im not familiar with the tripod joints as all my mechanical knowledge is on older cars and i never came across them before. Thanks for all your videos they are very helpful.
