Nothing life changing in this one 😂. This is more for people who are just starting out with manual or want to make the switch. Once you're used to manual, you'll do all of this naturally. The next parts will be a little more interesting 😎

NFS Underground's manual was great but in NFS Underground 2 and NFS MW 2005 it was nerfed and not great as NFS Carbon/Pro Street and the first NFS Underground. But if we talk about the weirdest feeling for shifting gears it was NFS Undercover (no suprise this game is the most broken NFS ever). NFS Undercover's manual is the weirdest in the all NFS games. From first to third you can overrev a bit then after forth to the final gear you have to shift early before reaching the redline (it was weird also, that after forth gear it doesn't let you shift like in first to third exceeding a bit of the redline). Also, there was a ridiculous reverse glitch that could be done only in manual. First you needed to floor the car in reverse till you reach the top speed of the reverse gear (it works with any cars -- doesn't matter if it is tuned or stock). Then, immediatelly go first and again immeditatelly shift into neutral and enjoy. If you have done it properly you'll achieve 400+ km/h in reverse.

It's like being taught stick shift in real life, people say just listen to the engine and with a little practice it's all 2nd nature, which I've been telling people who ask me about using manual in the game, I legit don't be knowing how to explain because I just do it, but now I can link them to this instead of being an idiot who can't explain his own methods lol.

I find speeds vary a little too much for me using gears to limit speed, I find there's a slight discrepancy (+/- 15KMH) between hitting rev limit initially and full restriction from it. Especially as a guy who loves to run lower level cars for fun.

With manual, when is the best time to hit nos? Should I try to get max rpm our of the gear I'm in, then go up a gear and hit nos? Or is there a particular gear / rpm moment that gives Nos the most bang for the buck (aside from looking at where the track could benefit from me hitting it) I tried to learn from watching your vid, but my brain is shorting out trying to catch when you are picking the best moment to NOS boost (compared to gear and RPM levels)😄

It’s weird going from up-shifting and heel-toeing irl to pressing buttons on a video game. It just doesn’t feel right, but like anything else it just requires practice. Kinda like when Herman Lee tried to play Through the Fire and the Flames on GH for the first time 😂

Well, you can play with steering wheel and pedals if you wanted to but with controller feels better since this is an arcade racer.

Can I ask how you hold the controller? Do you brake and accelerate with your middle fingers and shift gears with your pointer fingers? I'm getting a big better at it, but it was awkward at first and really affected my handling ability. I honestly I prefer the mod that moves shifting to the X and B buttons. However, I'm practicing with the regular layout to prepare for Unbound.

Manual gives you better control over your car. So if you know how to control your car then yes it will help out quite a bit, but if the driving skill isn't there then no it won't matter.

Hi goliath, why my car don't want to drift fastly? it took too much time to drift. i follow your setup and i'm using nissan gtr 99'
@HeroManNick1324 жыл бұрын
The R34 is bad (not even in top 10 fastest race-spec/offroad/drift cars). The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR is the best car in the game in offroad and race class with the 440 hp 3,5L V6 - Raptor's engine (not to be confused with the 304 hp 3,5L V6 from Nissan 350Z engine - it sucks). This car was op since NFS 2015 and Ghost hasn't nerfed this car since then. The Mazda RX-7 with 4L F6 (from again Porsche... 911 GT3 RS) is the best car for drift. Also, this setup doesn't work for all cars.

Need for Speed is an arcade game so if you want to be competitive, forget about drag tyre and traction control altogether. Go for regular track or race tyres and track suspensions. This will allow you to keep momentum going into corners and get a good speed recovery out of them. However, if you want your car to behave like an F1 car (like I do), do equip drag tyres, activate traction control, and do as the F1 drivers do: when anticipating a turn, downshift until you reach 100-150 kph. You'll need to adjust your timing depending on how abrupt the corner is. While you are manoeuvering, leave the throttle alone. Stay on the exterior part of the corner and cut inside until you skim the inner edge of the corner. At that moment, you should have reached its apex which is when you decide to accelerate again. Be careful though, if the corner is sharp or if you're dealing with hairpin turns, you'll need to decelerate a lot. In any way, precision is key because you ideally need to reach the apex of the turn when your car has travelled half its turning angle. By the way, do not use e-brakes but regular brakes. When using e-brakes, the rear-end of your car will start to skid in the direction of prior momentum (while the front-end will move away in the new direction you're steering into) because it has lost traction: you'll start drifting. But because you have equipped drag tyres and activated traction control, the lateral friction coefficient of your tyres is off the charts and you'll lose a lot of momentum in that drift.
