Before you said it I was also thinking big squid after that many drops. Awesome catch tho, great video!

Thanks mate 🤙 Yeh, it was very odd. But reviewing the day, I think fish were hitting the large 1kg head of the bottom meat and possibly missing the hooks. Who really knows at those depths!

What a find. Loved the manual scrap with that bass; real effort and true fishing. The electric stuff is just "winching for dinner", no harm in that , but hardly fishing in the recreational sense.
@WAFISHING3 ай бұрын
Gotta use electrics out there for the exploring, otherwise you’re out of puff for the real fish
@FloatingCream3 ай бұрын
@@noeldenney7782 Clearly you need to decide whether you want to fish or catch. No interest to me, but spending over $1000 on an electric reel means I want dinner rather than "let's go fishing". Splat this on Utube, ok, but then don't get sensitive about the meaning of fishing and finding.
@WAFISHING3 ай бұрын
Disagree, the effort that goes into deep drop fishing and landing on fish out there is much much harder than any fishing you can do manually in shallower. We’ve been doing it for years and it’s still the same electric or not. People who do deep dropping in their own boat will agree. Only people out of touch of “real fishing” would say such comments. For us, Demersal fishing isn’t fishing. We can do that with our eyes closed any location on any given day. 😎

@@WAFISHING Good to disagree, but I think most people who "fish" hold the rod. You'll get the hang of it one day!
@WAFISHING3 ай бұрын
@FloatingCream I’ll think you’ll find most people who fish agree with me. Like previous comments of this nature on any other platform. Inexperienced fishers would only disagree

Awesome fish - well done! 🤙🤙 Did you keep the collars / wings? - they go great in the smoker. The heads too - so much meat in them. Try whipping the cheeks out - if you didn't already do that of course. Blunose and bass are incredible eating as you know. Got my fish of a lifetime end of April - bass of 65.2 kg and even at that weight it was superb eating!
@WAFISHING2 ай бұрын
We gave them to locals at the club. 65kg bass is impressive! Hoping I’ll see one that big soon. However picking the days can be tough!

@@WAFISHING good on you. Yeah, the stars aligned for me for certain - fishing on a charter boat, and only managing around 3 trips a year. It sure is fun finding new spots, and even better when they're successful like your trip was. Cheers for the excellent content 🤙

Is there a reason the Seaborg was on speed mode rather then power? My opinion using them for years down south on big fish similar to metro with less shark problems power is much better not working to hard trying bring a fish up quick can cause the drag to burn out quicker for no reason. You can go pretty fast on power mode too. I only use speed mod up north to out run sharks Good day out anyway love the ocean legacy gear but as you say can’t put much hurt on them they just bend, what pound lines on the ocea jigger I got a 3000 with pe4 ocean legacy got 700m of 30lb thinking of going upto 40-50lb just want to reach 400ish with some spare
@WAFISHING2 ай бұрын
We do use power gear, see other videos on this channel. However It was only a 20kg bass, found no need for power gear really on these fish. Unfortunately it’s my reel hence why I asked decky don to tighten up the drag as easier than telling him to put in power gear (wouldn’t have a clue). Carbon washers can take it, but the metal components can deform if it gets too hot. 400m is not too bad with 20kg fish. When we get the bigger models we put in power gear. 30kg+ It’s 30lb whiplash as stated in description. I’d say close to 1.2km of line.
