It was great fun to just jump into a race without having to spend too much time into making your car as fast as possible. I think it will also lead to more exciting racing and more people joining the online races

Opensourcing of the tunes online is what's going to happen. Maybe good maybe bad, but not everyone is deep into car modding to understand what most of the options do to each car, on each track, in each race scenario. I'm sure there will be aggressive builds, handling builds, and builds that dominate one course and are losers on another. My hope is they develop an auto tune option that gets you racing right away.

Tuning in daily races is likely to be a deal breaker for me, I got stuck into GT Sport because I could jump into online racing with minimal fuss and be competitive without being disadvantaged by my lack of tuning knowhow. Failing in a race due to lack of driving skill is fine, losing to lack of tuning skill is not.

This to me is the most important thing. What i loved about GT Sport is the competition and how easy it is to compete with that mechanism, you qualify and then race. As in F1 it's so dumb and not so easy... Glad that they kept this simple in GT7, i think i'll get it when times will come :)

Multiplayer in the F1 games is so hard to get a good race in. Finding a lobby is already a task, and then you have half the grid crash out at turn 1 whether it's unranked or ranked. Hopefully they adopt a system more similar to this one in F1 2022 where the races happen at a certain time and everyone matchmakes for them at the same time.

Gt Sport online races are great. Rarely did I get a bad driver (those who think they are playing Destruction Derby), and they were always competitive without having super experienced players or complete novices.

I think people might be overthinking the tuning. Super GT literally made 1 single change (add weight ballast) and he was good to go. You don't need a PHD in aerodynamics or whatever to get into the right PP for the race and be competitive.

Tl;dr: tuning literally 100 % ruins the multiplayer to me at least. PD MUST bring back the system of GT Sport with a separate tuning playlist for those who are interested. I just did daily race B time trial. The "restrictions" were 1) max 295 BHP 2) minimum 1200 kg weight, and 3) SH tires. Track was Deep Forest. Well, I had gotten a Subaru BRZ from license tests (all gold with little to effort except the last one on Spa). I thought I'd slap a turbo on it and some random stuff to make it 289 BHP. I also upgraded the brakes and transmission. The weight of the car is 1250 kg so there is not much to shave off in that department. I did five laps of time trial and got a 1:48. There's definitely time to be gained there, but I thought that's probably good enough to start racing. Then I checked the top 10 leaderboard: I was more than 10 seconds off the pace. 10 seconds. I'm A rated (top 2%) GT Sport so it is not like I'm a slow driver. In GT Sport I was usually about 1 second slower than the top 1 time in daily races. So that's that. "People are overthinking the tuning". Wtf are you on about, man? Did you play the game before typing your comment?

@@tob564 Tuning is part of the older GTs as well. GT Sport is the outlier there. So honestly, I personally think you just have to learn and get used to tuning. Besides, for me at least, tuning is half the fun of GT.

Tuning the transmission and top speed is so important. Do a couple runs and see what your top speed will be. Then tune up to that speed.

Deep Forest: One of my favorite circuits in Gran Turismo, I love the changes in the double left section, and that hard corner at the end. No complaints. It’ll be cool if they add the original configuration eventually.

Played all last night and I just wanted to say this game is phenomenal. The physics still have the signature Gran Turismo feel, but feel much improved, I think they did a great job making every car feel much more unique and true to itself. While I have been playing on wheel, I have my dualshock 5 sitting on my desk and the vibration feedback still comes through the controller, which I just want to say is phenomenal. Theyve done an amazing job capturing the feeling of every bump in the curbs, even down to feeling the paint lines on the freeway of Tokyo Expressway. Force feedback itself feels much smoother. AI is much improved and actually fun to race against. Its still early to say but this game is fantastic so far and will only get better as time passes and we get more tracks and cars.

There's bound to be races without tuning, but personally tuning is my favorite part of the game! I get REALLY into it, the difference a few clicks of the final drive or the rear toe makes can be remarkable. Hint, hint... If they're smart, they'll offer a few generic tunes for each car, stuff like a left-turn biased suspension for speedways and a super-short transmission for drag races... Or a super-tall transmission for the oval... Again, HINT HINT!

I think tuning brings one player to multiplayer. Something I've always missed in Gt sport. I'm really exited for tuning online. It will certainly eliminate one car is best for one race. It will certainly over time make it more diverse and immersive. Therfore hopefully more unpredictable as to the outcome. This is just an addition to what we already had in Gt sport which we will continue to be part of Gt7 . With the edition of custom pp races, daily races can be used and enjoyed in so many more ways.

The problem with tuning is that everybody will copy "top" setup from internet for that race and it will defeat the purpose of tuning because everyone will have the same tune therefore the same car :)

I've played a lot of Forza and all tuning in multiplayer does is ensure two things happen. 1) The average self-tuning player gets obliterated 2) Everyone else copies top tunes from known names in the tuning community It doesn't encourage diversity in cars or anything. It's just adjusting some numbers and, where you can, abusing the system.

I loved GT sport, it's the game I played most since it was release, but for a 5 year development cycle, it looks way to identical to GT sport, looking at gameplay from magiore in SuperGT review I honestly could barely tell the difference with GTS beside the better LOD the Ps5 hardware allows. The need for a Ps4 version cripple the game way to much, but I understand the move and will still sink hundreds of hours into it 😆

I’d like to see more tuning guidance from Super GT… that’s really the most esoteric aspect of GT7 to me. Like when you have particular issues in your initial time trials or races, the kinds of tuning adjustments that would/could help. Or if you have to limit yourself to 600PP, what are the best power to handling choices you can make in tuning that will help us best avoid our friend, Barry R. ;) Ie. What kinds of problems can be fixed/addressed by different kinds of tuning vs just needing to become a better driver?

I def prefer the real-time race footage. For one, in GTS at least, several pieces of info are missing in replays. Second and more importantly, the replay chase cam makes me nauseous. It sticks to the car and moves the world, which looks janky af.

My frustration would be having to adjust the PP for every car for the same daily race. Jumping from the 911 to the RCZ to the AMG might all call for different PP tuning. maybe it’s not that big of a deal, I don’t know. What put GTS above the rest was the ease of jumping on and picking a car 30 sec before the race started and it being good.

Honestly iam all for it, tuning brings gt closer to hardcore sims like ac or iracing and if it means not everyone will be able to compete and there will be less dirty drivers that dont care about racing etiqe thats only good, at the same time i agree it can make racing less balanced, but we know how it worked in gt sport where each track had a meta car.

I'm excited that cars can be tuned, but worry that it will dictate how well you do too much. There should be an "auto tune" that gets you a close enough setup that can be competitive, and then you can fine tune to your driving needs. It feels a little like Dirt Rally 2 does this, as I can be OK with a stock setup, but adding a little something here or there makes it better. I only really have time to race a few times a week, and would be happiest if I can learn a track, set a good quali, and race. Slight tuning can fit in that. A complete setup doesn't.
