I like to think they left it in so you could Initial D it. My thoughts are they really need to make it so you can't stay within track limits and ride that kerb, it's really utilising the maximum of what's legal in the game, but it was somewhat badly defined by Polyphony. I class this as a different level of issue to the Daytona skip.

I think some of it is just an interaction between the underside, the tire wall and curb. Maybe they need to smooth the inside of the curb

I mean in reality you could do it on a curb high enough, its just that you'd also debead the tyre and probably rip out the suspension on a fast enough corner lol. @@Wiiillllson151 maybe real but I am pretty sure it is impossible on those curbs, they are to low. Also the rubber would cut so fast you won't make it past the first turn. On top of that, this is very risky and even if drivers could it would be banned. You would be driving with 2 wheels on gravel to hook a 1 cm curb... and not spin or crash into others? Right..... honestly i think this kind of "accidental mechanic"(to put it in a positive light) is kinda cool. Everyone can do it (meaning you don't need a special kind of equipment or a cheat program) and it only makes you like a second or two faster but its something you can only do on specific tracks. It gives the game a cool kind of risky maneuver you can try if you're behind.

The current B.o.P. is quite a strange one for me as in GT Sport my two favourite cars were the WRX and the Beetle. I am really pleased that they are both represented so well currently, especially the Beetle, always a lovely handling car but never truly competitive with high end speed. Despite this I find myself longing for the day when any Gr.3 or 4 car has an equal opportunity to grab a podium, it is sure to eventually arrive, the sooner the better. When it does you will no doubt still see me in either of those cars as it ever was so. I think that you did exceptionally well to manage the hook ups on the train tracks and I also believe it to have been a wise decision not to employ it during the race, it could quickly go horribly wrong. A real shame that Digit suffered with technical difficulties as that was a very exciting race and he, like you, is an exceptional driver and likeable person. Like deployed 👍 😎🎙🏎✅

I used it for time trial and I think the first day of the daily races last week, but in the end during the race I was faster without the curb "glitch". As you said it's hard to get right even on one lap, let alone during the whole race distance. I think my fastest race time was 18:14, which really was not bad. With the glitch during the race, I usually ended up making more mistakes and therefore a worse race time.

Forza Horizon 4 & 5 also has a sort of grass-sucking effect. If you take well inside a curve and put the inside wheels into the grass/dirt, it sucks the car without having any downsides. @justamanchimp
@justamanchimp 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jailhouse_Chris Yes exactly, that's a great point, there's merit to the technique, I'm wondering how much of this "exploit" is a physics exploit in the game, or rather a result of accurately modelled real life physics? After all, it's not like many people get to test this kind of thing in real life. However, giving your insightful rallying comment, perhaps people have tested in real life to some extent after all. I'm very curious to know if this is a real phenomena. When I look at it, I think it actually is. I'm a programmer, not a physicist or professional racing driver, or track designer, whatever. But I understand it enough, I'm thinking this can happen in real life too. I think the curb is ireellevent almost, its that they're catching a camber angle that is keeping the wheels rotating nicely, ultimately riding the apex as close in as possible. I think you can gain time with this in real life but it's super risky and difficult to do, so in real life, it's not really an option. Whether it's accurate in game, well Idk. GT7 isn't the most realistic anyway. But, someone please answer this lol. My adhd autistic brain is going mental 😂

I feel like its only cheating if its Easy enough to do with minimal effort AND its an instant boost while completely skipping significant portions of the track (Like the Goodwood shortcut or the Willow Springs one from GT Sport). The fact that this takes actual skill and specific factors (The angle, the amount and trajectory) to make it work while staying on track, albeit barely, makes it more an exploit. A difficult one and somewhat edgy one, but a exploit. I tend to feel the biggest difference between cheating and simply exploiting something is the amount of effort relative to the gain you achieve.

CAUTION: RANT AHEAD Don't rally cars do this? So the physics isn't necessarily broken (however lower cars would be shot). But I think having it in the game adds to higher skill gap, there just needs to be a downside. I.E. More tire wear, dirtiness so the next couple corners require more precision, or even it requires a certain set up or tires. I like it, but I miss variety in games. That's why I no longer play sports games. Besides the main title you lack options. Football for example, we have only Madden now, but we used to have variety like Street, Blitz, NFL Fever, etc. Anyways, what I'm getting at is if we are stuck with basically 1 title I'd prefer more options then just the "META." Seeing 1 car in a lobby of 12+ makes the game fun for about 45min before you change the game...

The issue is specifically how/where it does it, notice how it's a literal 5cm (~2in) tall wall, on cars with slicks which would be going into dirt, whilst the opposite side would be getting pushed outside by the shape of the curbs, not to speak of how the underside would be gone from all the scraping

This technique has been possible in all of them since GT5 if I’m not mistaken. Not on all tracks but I do remember doing it on some of them.
@bbbbbb111

In reality, Michael Schumacher often used this technique in Monaco. Especially in Mirabeau and the Grand Hotel Hirpin. He really was a driver who took every opportunity to go faster. These turns are relatively slow. At this track there is also no problem of dirty tires when you do that. That must have been the reason why, as far as I know, he only did it in Monaco and not on other tracks.

Same thing on Forza Horizon 4 lol, you let your inside tires dive into the grassy part of the road and your car suddenly can pull even more lateral G's.

I don't think if this is possible in real life or in AC. Because, even if you're able to do it, it doesn't going on smoothly like you've expected, and you still had to get a maximum control with your car.

I've been doing this since GT5, I'm glad to see it still works here. My father always wondered how I catch up to him, after being 2s behind. This is just one of many tricks that I use to lower my time. 😈

Hello Super GT, Viewer here. Its so refreshing seeing different cars on the Scott Speed account. I wish all the cars could be more balanced so that's a normal thing to see. Like who would honestly choose the Beetle? Nobody, but cuz it's fast for some reason all the top people do. Just my 2 cents tho lol Great vid as always Steve.

Hey superGt..love your videos man, been subbed for a long time! But I commented on Kerith's vid I thing because people claim that it's cheating...and I said there whay you're saying now...it's not easy to do or get dead right. I say if you're a fast racer then you are fast regardless of the exploit or not...yes it may save you a second or so...but the people that are complaining are running times that are 5-10 or more secs off the top times, I use controller and Toyota Ft-1 and my best time around is 2:18.537 and when I first saw top times they were around 2:15...so I was happy because I was improving. My 1st few times were 2:24-..but the fact that you can really ride a curb like that in theory makes me have no problem with people doing it... AGAIN LOVE your videos man and Please keep up the Great work...

this is one of my biggest gripes about sim racing, mainly towards the community. on one hand you have people screaming that this or that game "is not a real sim" and they have all this fancy hardware and get in full racing suits and everything to really "play pretend", because they are "so serious and sim guys", yet they find and use exploits in the games programing at the same time. exploiting bugs or game codes dont make you a "good racer". it dont make you a clean racer, it dont make you "super hardcore elitist sim", it makes you a tool. especially more so if you are one of those "sim elitists" that are always screaming in comments that "my sim is best sim and yours is arcade bs" i remember a time when it didnt use to be that way. When the racing community was one of the few, if not only fanbase that didnt go full toxic. but the times and attitudes have changed over the years i guess. Im just waiting for everyone to start screaming "REEEEE i dont wanna play with wheel users or have crossplay because im on a controller and unfair advantage" like the FPS crowd always cries about with controller and m/kb, even though every console since the ps2/OG xbox had m/kb support and getting those are far more accessible then a racing setup.

Same thing with iracing actually. I've been keeping up the news there and all the real race drivers quit iracing in droves when they got to the point where if you didn't run the exploits you weren't having fun.
